- Wedding: October 2013
I’m getting married in October in Austin, TX where me and the fiance live. My Maid/Matron of Honor and a family friend are hosting a bridal shower for me in my hometown in Buffalo, NY.
My question is, should I have a local bridal shower? His family is in Houston, TX. No one has offered outside of the Maid/Matron of Honor (the other 4 BMs are in Texas).
I feel pretty weird about the whole concept of a bridal shower anyways, it feels greedy and uncomfortable. But my FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves without help from parents (we are both doing ok financially, but we are in a lot of student loan debt where no one else in our families are in that much debt). Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves and its hurting us a bit financially, I would like as many presents as people want to give to help offset the costs.
I love planning and would gladly do it myself, but it just feels weird. And if I’m having a shower in NY, do I need one in Texas?
Thanks for the help ladies 🙂
Edit: Just a thought- we could do a couples shower! I haven’t really established myself in Texas yet, but most of our friends are guys, that way both of us can be present….
