Commenting to follow! I have the same situation – my Future Mother-In-Law is hosting my shower (well, taking care of all of the food), and I’m trying to decide what to get for her too.

Something she will really like? pearls? My first instinct was somethinglike flowers, but she may see that as being just for the party!

My first instinct is a piece of jewellery to wear to the wedding.  I’ve thought about purchasing loose stones as a gift, and then paying for the person to choose out the setting of their choosing, so that I know they will really love the piece!

Is there something your fMIL really enjoys, but doesn’t do for herself often because of the cost? Dinner at a nice restaurant? A massage, facial or mani/pedi? Fancy knitting supplies?

I would stay away from anything wedding-related and make it something just about her, a splurge, something that would make her feel pampered or special.

Ok, so I don’t mean to sound like a Martian, but we are supposed to give the bridal shower host a present?? I had no idea!! Lol glad I saw this post, I’ll have to start thinking too 🙂  I like that idea that jessc said… Maybe take her for a day of pamering … Nails, facials or something . Nice gesture and a nice bonding day for the two of you, as well

I would get her a gift card, either to a spa if she likes that, or otherwise something else nice that she likes. So happy for you although just a tiny bit jealous as my Mother-In-Law thought I shouldn’t register or have a shower bc I didn’t need anything, and she showed up without any presents even though she is the type who loves to buy presents. Anyway, so glad you are not dealing with that. Definitely get her something, either a personal type gift card or what about something nice from Things Remembered?
