I threw my sister a lingerie shower at her bachelorette party. She had a small shower with just family earlier that day, so this was a nice way for her friends to give her something fun.

Bridal shower.   I am not a prude by any means, but I sincerely have no desire picking out sex clothes for my family or friends, nor watch as someone opens a bunch of it from other people.  There are some things that are not group events.  Buy your own lingerie.

clauren:  I’m overweight, and a lingerie party would be so awkward. One of my friends has volunteered to throw me a bridal shower and wants to know if I want to do lingerie or whatnot, and I’m just like, can’t we just do a wine party and not really have it be a “shower” per se? Gift me with Wine that would be PERFECT! So yeah, no offer of advice there, but I hear you!

clauren :  I assume if your FSILs are throwing it, the shower would likely include people like your FI’s mother, grandmother, aunts…. those people do not need to see what you’re gonna be sporting before their dear relative bangs you. Leave the lingerie shower for when it’s only your friends.

megrays :  I didn’t have a shower or anything, but after the wedding at dinner with my wedding party they surprised me with “lingerie” gifts. Not like crotchless panties or anything but some bras and underwear and robes and things like that. There was a random box of BDSM items though that came from my male bff apparently as a gag. That was fun to open in the middle of a brazilian steakhouse!

clauren :  Those things aren’t usually interchangeable. A lingerie shower usually happens during the bachelorette party by the people you’d invite to that (i.e. not your mom and grandma). We did a shower for family and friends and then a lingerie shower during the bachelorette.

I really would not want my grandmother (or fiance’s grandmother or Mother-In-Law or my mother or really anyone for that matter) buying me lingerie that I would then have to open in front of a crowd of other people who would then immediately picture me having sex. But that’s just me.
