My Future Mother-In-Law wants to host my bridal shower since my Maid/Matron of Honor is in Australia and my other bridesmaids are scattered around the country. She mentioned a lingerie and gardening (um, I don’t garden, is she trying to tell me something?) shower.
I would love a lingerie shower, especially since my boudoir session is the next week, but she’s going to have 40 of her friends (wth?!?) and family with her and I’ll only have 3 of my girls and my mom and her best friend with me.
I think it might be weird to have strangers buying me lingerie, but my FH and I recently combined households and we don’t need too much house stuff, plus our place is tiny.
Can I register for personal girly things for me like perfume and lingerie (for those people who would buy it anyway) with just a few household things thrown in? Or should I register for household items and can I exchange/return them for the other stuff later?

I would ask Future Mother-In-Law is she can clearly separate the lingerie shower from the bridal shower. And let her know that you would like to discuss the guest list for the lingerie shower because it’s a more “personal” thing and you want to enjoy yourself and feel comfortable. If you have 39 women who you don’t really know on that level watching you open risque clothing, it could be a bit of a downer. Lol. I threw my friend a lingerie shower and there were only six of us and we all still had a blast!
Good luck! 🙂

I don’t think you register for lingerie I think they just put your size/cup size on the invite

Perhaps her idea of the garden part of the shower is to help you get some outdoor tools that you might not already own… (Lawn care items like tools and accessories or even outdoor furniture…(like a patio set…) I would guess those things would be useful even if you aren’t a gardener… I agree with your thought that a lingerie only party might seem odd… but then again your Mother-In-Law may be used to going to such events and may know that her guests will be apt to buy you beautiful nighties and robe sets…that you wouldn’t be embarrassed to receive!

Is it bad that I wouldn’t be embarassed to receive sexy lingerie from my Future Mother-In-Law and her friends, I just thought they might be?

@lsvogel: my husband’s grandma sent me lingerie for my birthday. She actually asked his grandpa if it “looked like me”…..oh boy lol

@LGenz: Well, my Future Mother-In-Law told me to register somewhere like Macy’s and they have super cute lingerie! It would save me the hassle of getting stuff I can’t wear.
