- Wedding: September 2011 - Laurel Rock Farms, PA
So I have three weddings including my own this coming year. My sister is my Maid/Matron of Honor and shes only 15 so she really doesnt know where to start. So Im gathering the details together so she can put it all together. Might I add, I kinda like things done my way sooo… I would like to make sure its done how I want it. Anyway, for the bridal shower do you use your same color theme as your wedding or do you do something completely different? I need help please.
My wedding is done in hot pink and damask colors so lets go from there!

I have just gone through all my bridal showers, and I have been SO thankful to have my family and friends throw me such amazing showers. Don’t be too stuck on what you want…let the people throwing the shower have some imagination. The shower is FOR you, so you should sit back and relax and let them plan it. Also, I am having a fall themed wedding (I LOVE fall), but I am getting tired of the whole “fall theme”. My last bridal shower was not fall themed at all and I loved that. If you do the same decorations and themes for your showers and the wedding, you will get burnt out on that scheme before the wedding comes. You know what I mean? Just something to think about.

I would use something totally different if I were having a bridal shower. Just because I think it’d be fun to go mad with a bit of a different colour scheme!

I don’t think there’s any right or wrong, whatever you like. I also kind of wanted to take control of my shower, but I’m glad I left it completely up to my girls. I had so much wedding planning to do, it was nice to have something that I did NO work in. My shower didn’t really have a theme, we had brunch at a country club, so most of the work was done for them and they just had to put some flowers on the table (I love flowers!) and bring favors.

I typically would use the same colors if it makes sense. If you have a fall theme wedding like browns but your shower falls in the summer at a place overlooking the ocean, I would use blues instead of browns. I think it’s mos timportant that the color goes with the shower location than matches your wedding but if anything goes, sure use your wedding colors or your second choice.

Obviously, you should do whatever you want, but it could be fun to do something totally different. I thought Miss Pretzel’s 1950’s theme looked like tons of fun (I’m pretty sure that was her theme anyway.) I guess it depends on the feel of the shower–are you hoping for something elegant or something just for fun? I once put on a bridal shower for a friend and it was in a backyard–we hung lanterns from trees and had nice picnic-y foods. I think a bridal shower is a great excuse to do something fun and different.

I think it makes more sense to tie everything together so if you are doing pink for the wedding I would be confused if I showed up to a red and green shower.

i would use the pink or damask with other color, you can use one of our colors and combine it with some other, so ypu can use a few things in both events.

my bridal shower theme is by colors, damask and blue. this is the main plate, the napkins are the same, and the desert plates are square blue. YOU CAN DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, WITH DAMASK AND PINK
i edited on photoshop, so i could personalize it
