kstir2015 :  First, ask the bridesmaids if they are interested in hosting a shower, and if so what are their individual budgets. Do this in private for each Bridesmaid.

When you know what help you will have hosting, and your budget, only then can you start to make plans. Make sure you involve the BM’s in planning if they want to be involved. It would be inappropriate for you to make the decisions and send them a bill.

It is not unusual to have the shower over lunch or in the afternoon and the bachelorette in the evening, especially if you have people who have to travel.

If you want to keep costs down, I would seriously consider asking the bride’s mom or another relative or close family friend to host the shower in their home. That will also limit the size of the guest list. When you know how many people can fit in your venue, then you can tell the bride how many to have on her guest list.

You do not need to invite all the same people to the bachelorette. That can be reserved for the friends and younger family members of the bride.
