I must be the only person I know who has had both of her bridal showers go south. Two of my friends were supposed to throw me a bridal shower. The first shower was canceled…..two days before it was suppose to happen. The girl told me that someone in her family died (which is totally understandable). But here’s the thing. There were never any invitations mailed in the first place. Go figure. Since I was supposed to have two showers, I divided the people up. The first group were my closest friends, and this was supposed to be my lingerie shower. The second shower consisted of my co-workers. However, since the first shower was canceled, I transferred some people from the first list to the second. The girl never offered to reschedule or anything.
The second shower was beautiful. My cake was beautiful, the venue was beautiful, decorations were beautiful, and the food was great. I even had a parking space in front of the building that said “reserved for bride”. The theme for the shower was “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Too bad only one person showed up out of 14 invites. No one even called my friend to say that they weren’t coming. I hate she spent all that money. I’m contemplating giving her her money back. Sigh…..We had a great time with what we had, but I couldn’t help but cry later that night. My Fiance felt so bad for me. He took me out to breakfast this morning.
Has this ever happened to you or anyone you know?

Ouch. That sucks. I’m so sorry. Mine was this last weekend and there were a few people that didn’t make it that made me kinda sad. But I kicked myself in the butt because they will be coming all the way to TX for the wedding so they can afford to skip the shower. I’m really sorry this happened to you.

I’m sorry, lady. I know it doesn’t make you feel better but at least you have a great friend who organized something so fabulous for you. Some people can’t even say that.

🙁 I’m so sorry this happened to you. I threw a close friend a baby shower once and out of more than 50 invitees, only 4 showed up. Since it was a surprise, she wasn’t disappointed because she didn’t know it was happening in the first place.
I’m sure with you, the cancellation of the first one caused some confusion. But it’s amazing that the friend still did so much for you. I wouldn’t worry about paying her back. I’d feel super guilty accepting money for a bride whose shower I threw regardless of the reason she wanted to give me some.

I know. I love her for it. Things have been so hectic lately, I haven’t really spent much time dwelling on it….thank goodness…
