That’s absolutely fine. Not everyone feels comfortable going to them or the need to do so. Some folks just go for the food samples.

Oh yeah.  I only went to one and it was just not very fun.  I did find our DJ there but mostly its just pushy vendors and too many people in the room.

@MsNarwhal: I hate them. I don’t learn anything I couldn’t have figured out from a google search, and I hate that a lot of vendors try to use the “it’s the best day of your life, no expense is too much” argument to get brides to spend more money than they are comfortable with.

I went to a couple and thought it was a waste of time.

I went to one with a friend of mine that was so bad, we just had to laugh.  Some good did come out of it though, we got some awesome tanning bed coupons we used later that day, some cute pictures from a photo booth, and my friend signed up to host a fun party.  So absolutely nothing on the wedding front, but fun none the less.

Hah, actually I’m planning to go to one with my mom…. only we’ve already done almost everything! I’m kind of hoping it will be a fun “experience” – we can always bail and get mimosas and pancakes if it doesn’t work out.

@baliahi1029: RE the “best day of” sales pitch… yes. That has definitely been my most unfavorite part of vendor-searching. Well, that and crappy websites.

I also hate that whenever you talk to anyone they try to make you feel like if you don’t book something (i.e. catering, DJ, photog) right away everyone is going to be booked up.  The one guy tried to tell me I wouldn’t be able to find a DJ even though my wedding was a hot 10 months away.  Every company I’ve contacted has had availability (and they are well recommended).

I still get telemarketers calling me from a show I attended in January.
