Okay this is going to be a bit ranty…
Last week I received a voicemail from my bridal store informing me that I need to pick up my bridesmaids dresses and that they will only hold them for a week (this makes no sense to me as we have already paid for them?!?). They said come anytime and have the bridesmaids try them on to make sure they are the correct sizes.
So this afternoon, me and my Maid/Matron of Honor head over to the store. It’s about an hours drive from my house. We get there and find the whole place is locked up, at 2pm on sunday? They have a brand new sign on the door saying they are not open sundays. I was frankly quite shocked and pretty frustrated as it was previous 11am till 4pm sundays. The info on google still had there old opening times and they said nothing in their message about changing their hours. I was not the old bride left stranded. Another girl had driven hours from the mountains (CO) to come to that store. She was desperate to find another bridal salon in the area. I personally would have thought weekends would be prime bridal shopping days and I don’t understand how they will get enough business being shut all sunday. They already lost that customer.
I don’t have any other time this week to make a an hour or longer drive with hellish workweek traffic. I am going to miss pickup the deadline for the bridesmaids dresses and am dreading that they might send them back to the designer.
Do you think it’s unreasonable for me to ask for the dresses to be shipped over to where I live?
Also, I am supposed to start my alterations with them in a couple of weeks. Would I be better to just pick up my dress and the bridesmaids dresses and find somewhere local to do the alterations? I am a bit nervous to end up with someone that doesn’t work with wedding dresses on a regular basis as the dress needs a lot of taking in. What do you Bees think?
