So I saw the post below by mhudnall about the gorgeous bridal tea she threw for her friend Rose. WOW! What a beautiful shower! I am also planning a bridal tea, but we were thinking of going a little more low-key.
So far, we are going to borrow a bunch of tea sets from my mom’s friend, so all of the tables will have mis-matched cups/saucers/pots, etc… We already have the food covered (petit fours and sandwiches on tiered trays), and we’re planning on ordering teas from http://www.teavana.com including some of their blooming teas. The idea is that we’ll have several different types of tea on each table, so guests will have to mingle to other tables to try out different kinds. Ummmm, and that’s the extent of out planning so far. Help, please?
Other details: The wedding colors are shades of purple, and the shower will be in April, so I was thinking of keeping things light and spring-like. Maybe lighter purple shades with accents of pale yellow and green? I was thinking of filling some of the antique tea pots with flowers, but now I’m rethinking that since I worry there will be too many tea pots on the table. I also have NO CLUE about activities/games, except for opening presents.

Ooo I went to a tea bridal shower and it was adorable! It was in the MOH’s home which was beautiful. They had the same things you mentioned-small sandwiches, finger foods, etc. They also had an “adult” drink. Not sure what was in it but it was pink and had champagne. It was girly and still went with the tea party theme.
The linens were all pink. We actually didn’t play any games (which I was grateful for. Im not a fan). But she did have a dvd playing on the big TV over the fire place of pictures of the bride and groom with every person at the shower. It was a really thoughtful touch.
They had a big selection of desserts which went nicely with the tea. We nibbled on those while the bride opened gifts. It was very laid back yet still fancy.

I like the addition of an adult drink. 🙂 Maybe I can make a purple “sparkling” punch…

My girls are hosting a Tea Party for my shower as well. I don’t really know many details besides that, and that we all get to dress up and wear hats too. 🙂
It makes me really happy because I LOVE tea, and REALLY LOVE tea parties. When I was a kid me and one of my brides maids use to have tea parties on a regular basis, often with our American Dolls.
When we were talking about ideas and she mentioned this I feel in love. I am so happy and can’t wait to see what they come up with.

@Mrs. Spring: Chambord is a lovely raspberry liquor that will give drinks a purplish color. You can mix it with champagne or make all different kinds of “tini’s” with it.
Lots of places have adorable tea sets that are like a big mug on the bottom and an individual tea pot that sits on top. Those would be great for prizes if you are going to do any sort of games.

@peacegrl099: That sounds wonderful! It sounds like you have a great bunch of girls. 🙂
@Moose1209: Thanks for the ideas! I have seen those little individual brewing sets, and I think they would be perfect!
