We didn’t think there was a smooth way for us to exit (though I originally dreamed of sparklers) and we just wanted to take the shuttle with the guests, so we had everyone gather around us in a circle on the dance floor and throw rose petals at us- it actually made for REALLY cool photos!

Yes the couple stays until the end of the reception to say goodbye while people filter out. I’m in the northeast.

I have never been to a wedding where the bride and groom leave before the guests. Every wedding they stay till the very end and all the guests leave.

theantianxietyreel :  So I’m the annoying bride who wants a grand sendoff, but instead of interupting the reception, we’re doing a grand exit out of the church. We can’t do anything fun (confetti, sparklers, etc) so we’re doing gold streamer wands. Yepp, I want the pics! lol

Big, elaborate send offs aren’t a thing in my area (at least not with my social circle and family).  Every wedding I’ve been to the couple either stayed the entire time or snuck out.

My wedding is at the end of December of this year and I’m looking at that water soluble fake snow. It’s just a vague idea at this point, though. Good luck!

When we wanted to leave, I’d say there was only about 50% of our guests left.  We just walked around the room telling people we were going to leave and thanked them again for coming.  It was very low key.

I was at a wedding last night that did bubbles in place of rice at the ceremony. Lots of people still had them at the reception and it looked really nice. That being said, I’ve never witnessed a big send off because my family likes to party into the depths of the night and I’ve never lasted until the end. Haha.

theantianxietyreel :  every wedding I’ve been to does the guest line.  We did it to for ours. The guests line up in pairs opposite to each other and hold hands above their heads. The bride and groom run though the guests arm arch! The photographer usually runs under the arch too in front of the bride and groom to get photos. We got some great photos and we did the exit really quickly!!

Don’t most people leave before the bride and groom? I’ve never stayed till the end of a wedding. At the end of my wedding there was only a handful of people who stayed till the very end, so we just said c ya our ride is here!

We were staying st the hotel where the reception was so my dad made a speech after the cake cutting and announced that we wouldn’t be leaving so not to expect a big send off. People just came and said goodbye.

theantianxietyreel :  we jumped on the bus with everyone else to head back to the hotel for the night so no big exit as it would have felt silly. We ended up getting off at the house some friends rented to join the after party and eventually had to take an Uber Black back to our hotel – but even then we snuck out silently so we wouldn’t get hung up on our departure.

I did streamer wands.  They were a lot like ribbon wands except I made them WAY longer.   All the streams flew all over and tangled together- and we literally walked through them.  Sometimes ribbon wands can look like cheerleading poms or something- this wasn’t like that.  Guests had fun and the pictures looked awesome!!

You could also always do bubbles

We didn’t do any kind of send off really, it wasn’t something we’d given any thought especially. Goodbyes were said all around as everyone left about the same time around 1.30/2am as the venue hire was supposed to be til 1am and we had a nice car take us back to the hotel which was a super short drive away, but no cans or ribbons tied to it! A fun thing happened when we arrived to the hotel though, some young girls happened to be outside (I guesstimate around 14-16 years old – too young, you might say) and when they saw me pouring out of the car in my big princess dress they started squealing and taking photos, even rushed up to take photos and wave through the glass of the doors after they locked behind us, it was a cute ending to a really wow day 😁
