Love! And I totally agree with you. I got all my jewelry online for a fraction of the price of bridal stores.

Have you tried getting your hair done at a beauty school?  I did and it was only $15 and since it was so cheap I went for a trial (on the day of my bridal shower-so I had pretty hair for that day too) and found someone who was still going to be there on my day.  She did a great job.  You can see my hair if you look at my gallery, there is a picture of it there.  I also found a lot of items for my wedding at our dollar tree and ordered our favors online 🙂  Good luck!!

Oops I forgot what I was going to ask you – Are you going to wear those flowers in your hair and the veil at the ceremony?  I was wondering because I was looking at something similar and I couldn’t figure out if it would look right with both or if I should just switch them out for the reception (our ceremony and reception is at the same venue)

@ms.alves: Its so easy to do a wedding on a budget if you dont get caught into the hoopla of what the wedding world says you need etc.

I feel like my wedding had all the rings and bells and we did it for under 11,000.00 (100 guests…in VANCOUVER!!). I got my jewlery off ebay (25.00), veil off ebay (cathedral with rhinestones for 35.00), flowers off craigslist, videographer off craigslist as well as my cake. My only huge expense was my dress…which was a rediculous splurge that i regret!

Check out my break down here!

@ms.alves:  Pretty!  I guess I needed confirmation lol  I bought a headpiece for $10! and it sparkles like crazy.  The problem is that the style of it doesn’t really match my dress so I’m looking at alternatives and I do think the flower clips are really cute

I don’t have any advice, but I’m there with you, lady! I’m trying to do all this wedding planning on a tight budget. So far, I have my dress for ($368 [$350 + $18 shipping]) ordered from PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com. I have my eyes on a pair of shoes for $50 on Zappos and a pair of earrings and a bracelet from Ebay.com for less than $50.

Good luck and do check in about your discount finds!

@ms.alves: Yeah i have always wanted to be a hero Laughing. I think i was the same way as you but opposite…my family thought i was going to break the bank and i wanted to prove them wrong!!! and i think we did…considering our budget was 15,000 and we spend 11,000!! yeah!!

I think the key to being under budget or having a budget wedding is just being relaxed about things. Priortize what is important to you.

I didnt want a videographer, so i didnt care that this guy was free and it might end up looking like crap

Flowers…i love them and wanted them to be pretty but they just werent my “oh my gosh” thing. I told the florist i like these colours and told her to put whatever in there…that way she had much more flexibility and could do everything at a great price. If you are specific..like i MUST have THESE orchids in THIS colour..it gets pricey.

Same with cake…cake is well….cake. So i wasnt looking for anything stellar or mind blowing. I just wanted something cute that fit with my theme. This girl was just starting out..i emailed her a pick of my venue and dress and said i was going for a vancouver highclass crystal and glass theme with an outdoors wedding look…and ta da!!

You just have to be cool…..be cooooolll 🙂 (and dont look at to many blogs etc as they start to freak you out about your choices..but the things those blogs dont have that you do…is a budget!!!)

Good luck, and if you need any help dont hesitate to contact me!
