@loralie:  I just went to a wedding where the couple danced to "When You Say Nothing at All."  It was soo beautiful and touching!  They didn’t have anything choreographed, but I think that actually made it sweeter.  You could just really tell how much they loved each other.  I think the song is great as a processional or first dance song.

We decided to put a twist on things by doing totally traditional music up until the ceremony actually begins… The bridal party (except mothers) are walking to Canon in D, then I’m walking to Wagner’s Bridal Chorus… which will juxtapose PERFECTLY with the string version of Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies that our quartet will play for the recessional!  We’re having them do string versions of our favorite 80s songs for the cocktail hour, one of which is Pictures of You (someone mentioned this above)… GORGEOUS song, use the instrumental if you like it!  Vitamin String Quartet has a recording you can play if you are using a CD or mp3s.

Here are 2 songs that I love – jump on youtube video to hear the full version of these songs:

Grow Old Along With Me – Mary Chapin Carpenter

Book of Love – Peter Gabriel

Oh, and on another post there is a perfect "first dance" song – I plan to steal it : ).  The song is "Man and Wife" by Michelle Featherstone. (Found on Allison’s recent post with her wedding photos.  She was married at her family’s winery.)

Book of love is an amazing song. My fiance’s accapella group sings it and they rock. Accapella is kind of a cool thing to do btw, you could find a collegiate group and they would probably be pretty cheap. Also they can re arrange verses of songs so they say what you want when you want it.

@daisybug72:  I was thinking of doing the same thing!  We’re trying to keep the mood of the whole day pretty light.  I tear up when I hear that song, so anything more serious I would be a mess!

I just got a lot of songs from Vitamin String Quartet for my prelude and processional. They have done covers of almost everything! You can get a modern song, but with a classical feel. I love Don’t Stop Believing and God Only Knows.

There’s this instrumental song by Yellowcard called Three Flights Up and it’s BEAUTIFUL. I always could imagine walking down the isle to it, so I think that’s what I’ll end up doing. Granted, I need to edit the end because it preludes into a heavier song, but the rest is stunning.

@penguinof3:  THANK YOU! Your suggestion hit the nail on the head! That movie is very special to my fiance and I and I was having a lot of trouble figuring out a song until I read your post so thank you so much!
