So, when I got engaged a yr and a half ago, and picked our wedding date almost 2 years out, I had no idea the last 6 months before my wedding would be like this.
In Dec. my best freind announced she was going to marry her new bf on their one yr anniversay, 3 months before my wedding date. And I was her Maid/Matron of Honor, which is totally a WHOO HOO! moment, but also an oh crap moment all at the same time.
Then, a month later, my little sister announced her pregnancy and June wedding. Long story short, my mother was hospitalized for a mental breakdown, there were tons of hurt feelings, and she re-negged her original decision to have me (her only sibling, and close at that) as her Maid/Matron of Honor, because “it would really mean alot to so-n-so.”.
Fast forward to NOW. BF’s shower was this weekend, and I’m at the “completly go nuts – or get over it” point with her bridesmaids. If it weren’t enough stress trying to obey the wedding budget, pay for all of the expenses we know are involved with being in someone elses wedding – oh wait, make that 2 in 4 months, and a baby shower – throw in one of the catty-est, snarkiest, rudest girls your ever met in your life – and watch the “happiest time of your life” turn to crap in a heart beat.
Shes been a brick wall to work with, has now turned her “bitch-o-meter” up to BLIND RAGE.
I feel like I just want to quit this whole Maid/Matron of Honor thing, I feel so defeated for all my efforts.
I think I need some yoga classes or maybe a good stiff drink. Any suggestions?

I noticed no one responded so i hope you aren’t feeling completely hopeless. Just remember that YOUR day is most important and hopefully everyone near you will understand if you have to prioritize and they don’t agree with your decisions. Not sure where the snarky girl fits in, but, you do NOT have to put up with that whether it’s from a bridge, mother-to-be, Maid/Matron of Honor, or anyone else! Stand up for yourself when you can and take frequent time outs and breathers. Take time for just yourself and make 1 decision for your wedding or reception and be happy with that accomplishment. Good luck. Wish I could have had your wedding date. I love the number 8!

Wow, girlie!! That is a lot of crap going on! So sorry to hear that. I definitely recommend both: yoga and a VERY stiff drink. Although you might have done both already. It sucks having so much negativity in your life at such a time. So I agree, focus on you. Do the best you can with the other situations, but refuse to their stress/rudeness and inconsiderate natures influence you. Try to focus instead on YOU and YOUR soon-to-be-hubby. You both are the most important right now. Remember that. Otherwise 10 years down the line you will regret not taking some time to focus on yourself. Good luck!!!

That is a lot of big moments in a short amount of time! Hopefully things get better with the Maid/Matron of Honor role (and rude BMs), but like others said, you have to find the time for yourself and be excited about your big day 🙂
