I plan on wearing my glasses. I’ve worn glasses for 15 years now and have maybe had contacts a dozen times and it’s just not for me. So for me it would be a choice of looking stupid and squinting for the whole day, excusing myself every 5 minutes to check my contacts vs. looking and feeling comfortable and looking like myself. I don’t wear a wedding dress everyday so that is change enough for me.

There is actually a whole section on OffbeatBride dedicated to brides with glasses: http://offbeatbride.com/tag/brides-in-glasses

I actually love the look of brides with glasses! (and I don’t wear them personally) I think it just add that something extra, as long as it doesn’t distract from the look she is trying to achieve.

Also I don’t think it was necessarily rude of you to try and convince her not to wear them. It just seems like its the norm in your area not to wear glasses, so you can’t really blame you for asking. Smile

To say that a person is “not pretty or cute” or looks like a joke is so incredibly rude.

Your opinion is glasses don’t look bridal. OK, whatever. However, in MY opinion your opinion of what is bridal is a very narrow view.

@Bears-bub @Earlybride @Ms. Peach:

I’m sorry I’ve offended you. I understand that for some people it isn’t an option. When I said that glasses looked silly I was SPECIFICALLY referencing the ones posted by Miss Tattoo in her link. Some of those, if you go check them out, have a very distinct style (which doesn’t suit the brides at all, I might add). Some people at my university like to wear glasses like that JUST FOR THE SAKE OF WEARING THEM. And I think that’s just silly.

No need to get militant, glasses-wearers: This was not a jab at people with no other option…

I’m not married yet, but planning to wear contacts on my wedding day. My Fiance will be wearing glasses though (he got fancy new ones for the occasion) and i’m okay with that. I have worn glasses everyday since I was a kid and I never really liked having them much so I don’t consider them part of my personality. I think that with or without glasses, I’m still myself. I recently decided to get contacts especially for my wedding day cuz I want my beautiful makeup job to be exposed as much as possible and I want to feel at my prettiest. If someone is set on wearing glasses on their wedding day or has no other option then you really shouldn’t try to discourage them.

@FabFitFinds:

Let’s be real, wearing glasses with a bridal gown is  not pretty or cute….but if that’s the look people choose to go with then more power to them:)

What is wrong with you? Seriously who pissed in your mouth this morning? Do you realize you have just offended A LOT of people who wear glasses. What is your problem with glasses on a bride? Did you get called four eyes in school or something? I wish you were being sarcastic when you say a bride can look prettier without glasses. Sadly, you are being serious. What’s next?

I don’t even know what to say. I’m just shocked that you would think it’s okay to say something like that.

@Miss Tattoo: I agree with this completely.

And honestly, after wearing glasses everyday for about 16-17 years, I do think of them as part of my identity.  I get that I’m still me without them, but since I’ve seen them everyday for that long, I’m definitely more myself with them on.  And I do not think I look less attractive with my glasses on and I’m sorry some of you seem to disagree that you can look just as pretty with glasses on as you can with them off.  I, honestly, have come to actually think I look more attractive with my glasses on.

@MrsRugbee: / @FabFitFinds: You both have been rude in this thread and your statements ridiculous.

I will be wearing my very noticeable glasses on my wedding day because that’s me. They are part of my identity and who I am.

 @Miss Tattoo:   100000000000000% agree with your statement (s)

TBH I did my makeup with the intent to wear my glasses (meaning no lash extensions).  But I somehow managed to completely forget about them in the dressing room and ended up going through the ceremony without them!  lol  I did however wear them to the reception and honestly I love those pictures just as much!

@FabFitFinds:  Wow.  If you don’t like the look of glasses then kindly keep your mouth shut about it.  Didn’t your mommy ever teach you that if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all?  Sorry but your comments are rude and disrespectful.

wow, some people are so clueless about glasses… lol

I love my glasses. I have 3 different frames (red, black, brown) to coordinate. They aren’t just “necessary appliances” to me – if I have to wear them, why not accessorize?

I rarely wear contacts anymore. My eyes have become more sensitive so I keep a pair around for special occasions (I’m down to my last pair actually) but that’s about it. I wore contacts for my wedding and honeymoon just because I was so afraid something would happen to my glasses in all the hustle and bustle.

Also, has anyone checked out http://www.zennioptical.com/? You can get a complete set of glasses for $20 – and they have lots of great styles! Hello new accessories Cool

edit: also heard goggles4u.com is another similar site!
