I wear glasses every day but my mother is determined that I shouldn’t wear them for the wedding.  I agree only because I don’t like the feel of my birdcage veil rubbing against them.  Now when I take the veil off for the reception my glasses will be going back on Cool

Yup, I know 2 moms who have ordered glasses for their ENTIRE family from that site and were very satisfied.

I look absolutely fabulous with my glasses and I plan to wear them on my wedding day.  BTW – glasses can be such a turn on for guys. 😉

@bunnyfoofoo: This is fantastic!  One of my biggest issues when getting new glasses is finding a pair I’ll love until my next pair.  I do still love my glasses but I would also love to mix it up!

@FabFitFinds: So glasses make brides look nerdy/geeky? Awesome, because that’s what I am. Can’t wait to rock mine.

It’s incredibly rude to suggest that brides wearing glasses won’t be as pretty as if they went without them.

@Bears-bub: If your eyesight isnt too bad then it would be quite cool for the only thing you can see during the ceremony to be your husband! I am a -5 so that would work for me, but my favourite moment of the wedding is the grooms face when the bride comes in, so I will wear contacts.

@FabFitFinds: I love wearing my glasses, and would happily give a giant “Fuck you!” to anyone who told me I looked ugly/geeky with them. 🙂 I am gorgeous with or without them, but I happen to be of the opinion that I look more like “myself” with my glasses because I’ve worn them for ages.

Furthermore, how is seeing your glasses as part of your identity any different than someone who associates a tattoo, piercing, or specific hair color with part of his or her identity? (Here’s a hint: it’s not.)

@Miss Tattoo: I agree, and was going to repost this very same line.  I am personally offended by this – please see the copius pictures that I posted of myself on the blog in my recaps.

I have worn glasses every day since I was 6 years old, and no way was I going to spend my wedding day without them.

Please don’t make a blanket statement about glasses on brides looking “hipster” or “not pretty” because there is no reason for that.

You can see in this post that I wore my glasses for both my wedding and my boudoir shoot: http://www.weddingbee.com/2011/06/07/its-the-hardest-thing-ill-ever-have-to-do/#more-201096

Nothin’ wrong with glasses.

I’m new here, wont be married until next year. I wear glasses every day, all day, whereas my fiance doesnt. However, he wants me to wear my glasses on our wedding day because that’s ME. I plan on getting a new pair (I’m due for a new pair anyway), but the pair I end up with wont be centered around my wedding. They will be ME.

If she wants to wear glasses and likes her glasses, then I think you should leave her alone and not try to bully her into seeing things your way. But this is why I don’t even tell co-workers that I am getting married. You just never know how people are going to react.

This thread makes me want to punch the next person who says “you’re not wearing your glasses are you?”
…seriously I’m going to hit them. Right in the face…and break their nose.

I have never once in my adult life (never wore glasses as a child) thought my glasses made me less beautiful until it game to the wedding. Never. It was actually quite the opposite I look totally hot and fierce in my glasses. I pretty much rock the sexy librarian fantasy out of the water (ok, that was shameless, I know).

I don’t really understand where the idea of glasses not being pretty, or femanine comes from? Its just a variation of femanine I guess?

For those of you reading this who don’t wear glasses I suppose its hard to understand why someone would want to wear them, or why we view them as part of who they are. I have a perception of myself as a woman and within that identity I am a woman who wears glasses. I pick my glasses frames to suit my face shape, accentuate my features, and in a way define my style. Afterall,  90% of people are looking at my eyes when they talk to me (the other 10% are playing out some sexy librarian fantasty in their head). My glasses are a HUGE part of my identity because I face the world in them everyday. So why would I want to wear them? Well, why would I want to leave a piece of me at home?

They’re also a great accessory. I also want to see my husband and guests (d’uh). And I also don’t want to be in pain.

So consider yourself lucky for having perfect vision because I don’t. But just know that I am going to rock my glasses on my wedding day and ignore ignorant people like yourself.

@Miss Tattoo:  Whats next?…telling the paralized bride to leave her wheelchair at home. I mean its just an appliance you wear to get around sometimes, right?
