So, I’ve FINALLY picked a bridesmaid dress! Now, I’m just having trouble deciding on a color. It’s down to either Black or a Purple…I’m REALLY torn between the two.
I love classic black, but wonder if it’s been done too much, is too boring & predictable, or will be ‘blah’ in pictures. But, it would look good on everyone & make shoes and accessories easy.
With the purple (Jasmine color “Bossanova”), I don’t really know what it will look like in person. I’ve only seen the swatch & couldn’t find a full sample dress in that color in any of the stores I’ve been to.
The wedding will be outdoors at a garden in September. All my girls are in their 30’s, so I want something age-appropriate & not too flashy. I don’t think I could go wrong with either…however, any input is appreciated!!!

I LOVE that purple color! I think it would look flattering with all kinds of complexions too.

I’d choose black and pair it with a pretty bright bouquet. Purple is not that flattering on some people due to their coloring. Also, just curious but do you have something they can wear over their shoulders if they aren’t comfy with strapless?

I really love the purple color! But the black could look really great too, especially with bright colored shoes and bouquets!
If you’re really torn, could you maybe put it to a vote with your bridesmaids?

I LOVE the purple and think that purple is actually a color that looks really good on all skin tones (especially a deep purple like that!) You can do silver or gold accessories and it would look beautiful. That kind of purple can actually go with a lot of colors. I honestly think they would wear the purple one again too! I mean you really cannot go wrong with either! I think I would ask your bridesmaids which they would prefer!

@ Ember79 – Everyone is comfortable with a strapless dress. I showed a few styles to them, and the ones that they like happened to all be strapless. Good point about something for the shoulders! Maybe I could get them something as part of their gift.

I think they’d both look great, but I love the idea of black (more re-wearable) with colorful shoes and bouquets.

I’m a little partial to the purple as my girls will be wearing a dark eggplant color also. All my girls loved it.. they would wear it again. I agree with the othe ladies, see whichever they prefer.. they are the ones who will re-use the dress but I voted purple.

I think purple would be most appropriate for a September garden wedding.

if you go with black they have a black dress they can wear forever…but the purple is nice too.

So, I’m thinking that the girls would prefer black dresses. Either way, I think the flowers will be different shades of purple.
