what style is the dress? She probably won’t be showing that much by then so as long as it’s not a super tight style and she doesn’t start hitting the ice cream instead of the gym, she should be okay

@sdunkelbarger:  If this is her first, she might not be showing really by then. Maybe just a small pooch. Depending on the style of the dress she may not need a alteration but there is always a option of letting a dress out a little to accomadate for a baby bump.

At 11 weeks, she’s probably not going to be very big or even showing – my best friend had her first in November and she really didn’t start to show until she was about 6 months along.

@sdunkelbarger:  I’m currently 14 weeks, and even now it’s not really an issue to fit into any of my clothes, except my skinny jeans.  If the bridesmaid’s dress is fairly flowy, I bet at 12 weeks it will barely be a problem.

ETA: Can you post a picture of the dress??

Unless it is a super form fitted dress, it won’t be an issue at all.  And even then, most really aren’t showing at that point.

@sdunkelbarger:  Does she have the dress?  Have her try it on immediately, and then she at least has time to address any possible alterations to make it fit.  If it doesn’t fit now, it’s definitely not going to get better…

I’ve definitely seen some people that do show a lot really quickly, but often it’s just the excitement of the whole idea and WANTING that baby belly more than anything that will actually affect the dress fitting or be obvious to an outsider.

I had the same issue come up with one of my bridesmaids. we also purchased from davids bridal and they let her exchange her dress for a larger one since it wasnt altered and still had tags. she will probably have to have it taken in slightly but it wont be too small! You should give them a call and see if they can exchange it for you too.

@sdunkelbarger:  David’s Bridal will do a size exchange as long as her dress is in “re-sellable condition.” Meaning, no alterations, no stains, and tags attached.  I would have her go there asap because they might need to order a size up.

That being said, she won’t be that far along and probably won’t be showing much, if at all.  However, if you both are nervous about the fit (DB bridesmaid dresses can’t be let out) then do a size exchange.
