- Wedding: September 2013 - The Skinner Barn
Hey all! I know I’ve plugged them before, but I really want to get the word out there about Brides Across America. BAA arranges dress giveaway events for service women and those marrying service men and women. Last November I was lucky enough to get my free dress from BAA and I wrote about my experience here on the Bee. Registration is beginning for their June events and bridal salons all across the US are being added daily, so if you think you might qualify I would definitely check them out. In order to qualify:
“-You must be engaged, or had a civil ceremony and planning a wedding within the next 18 months.
-You or your fiancee were deployed within the past 5 years to Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Libya,
Kuwait, Korea or Japan and have not had a formal wedding.
-You or your Fiancee will have an upcoming deployment to any areas specified.
-All military brides must bring a drivers license or their military ID for verification.”
If you meet the qualifications, all you have to do is register online with http://www.bridesacrossamerica.com for the event you want to attend. Registration is only $20 so it’s totally worth it. I actually signed up for two events (one in PA and one in NY) and when I found my dream dress at the PA event I cancelled my NY appointment. I didn’t mind losing that $20 because I knew it would go toward helping other brides get the dress of their dreams.
I hope that this can be helpful for any military bees or those marrying into the military. I know that my fiance’s service hasn’t exactly made us millionaires and every little bit we can save on the wedding counts. I am so thankful to Brides Across America for helping us out.
And just for good measure, here’s a picture of me in my dress from the day of the giveaway (before alterations) 🙂
