I just sent my dress to donate to them last week! I heard about it through another poster on here and loved the idea. I had no interest in the keeping the dress for some daughter I may never have and was too lazy to ever get around to selling it, so donating was perfect!

I got my beautiful gown from BABC! They are a *great* organization. I had a wonderful experience gown shopping with them – I gushed about all the details on this thread. I encourage people to look for BABC events every chance I get on the ‘Bee.

Organizations like this are wonderful, especially since my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2011, beat it, then 7 months after her treatment she was diagnosed with it again, so I support anything for fighting/find a cure for breast cancer, BUT…..

Be careful…..

Women have been injured because so many women show up to purchase these gowns and get very agressive. I was sent an e-mail from Brides against breast cancer and even in the e-mail they’ll warn brides to be respectful and polite because of past experiences. If you are going there to just browse gowns I wouldn’t suggest going to these types of events, only go if you are going to BUY a gown. Also, don’t go alone bring someone along to watch over your dress rack so other women don’t try and steal your dresses (that you have yet to try on.) These places can get very crazy!

All in all though, these organizations are here to help, have a wonderful selection of gowns and the experiences can be very fun and supportive all I am saying is come prepared, maybe wear some elbow and knee pads (joking.)

I am seriously considering going to one of their upcoming events where Future Mother-In-Law is living. Gotta talk to the moms and see what they’d think. Hmm.

In regard to how old the organization is, it was founded in 1997 in Portland, OR. As of January 2012, it was sold to Suncoast Cancer Support, and the organization was moved to Florida.

I went to a Brides Against Breast Cancer event in Austin, TX. There was no running or pushing or anything like that. Everybody was very respectful and people were even helping each other. I didn’t feel like there were many choices in my size and above (size 14+), so I didn’t end up finding anything that I liked. But it is a great organization and if more people donated their dresses it would get even bigger and better. I am definitely going to donate my dress!

I think this organization sounds great.  I regret not knowing about it prior to me buying a dress. I would have gladly bought from them!!!!  Frown
