I’m just wondering what Brides and Grooms look for in a Wedding Planner/Coordinator? Please post and let me know. I’m looking to start up a Wedding Coordinator business and I would like to know what is important to couples when hiring a coordinator or even your positive and negative experiences if you have hired one or will not hire a coordinator. Or for newly-weds if you planned your own and wished you would have hired a coordinator?

@mnevans: I would want; a bubbly personality, someone who can listen intently to your ideas and is good at making them reality and if they think your idea(s) won’t work or are not relevant etc can change your mind without you realising it lol.

Someone that is always available, quick to respond, extremely organized. That’s what we looked for. Our planner was so good we had guests joking she was like a wedding robot with a headset, that was in 50 different places at once.

Someone who is organized, accessible, and a joy to be around. You don’t need a planner stressing you out the day of your wedding! I also look for someone who has a similar style- if I think they have good taste, then I can feel better about trusting them. I’m also really type A, so I wouldn’t hire anyone who isn’t as color coded, detail-oriented, and organized as I am. Someone who wants your wedding to relfect you as a couple and can show you new ideas (that fit you as a couple) instead of shoving generic trends down your throat. We have a coordinator included with our venue to arrange our vendors, come up with our timeline, set up, clean up, and make sure everything runs seemlessly, so I won’t be hiring an additional one.
