After much agonizing and debate, I finally decided to bite the bullet and dye my hair the dusty pink of my dreams. It feels SO fun and SO me, especially since it was well-received at work, but with several big events on the horizon (college graduation, belated engagement party and pictures, etc.) I’m looking for some positive vibes. As much as I love it and think I’ll probably stick with the pink in the long term, there is a small part of me that’s worried I won’t love it years from now looking back on pictures. Did any of you rock an unnatural hair color for your big day or another big event? Or just rock it in everyday life?

Yup! I had lavender hair at my wedding and I loved it.
I had unnatural coloured hair for 5-6 years before my wedding so it would have felt weirder for me to go back to brown just for the wedding. (it’s back to natural now because of my job)
It was a bit of a softer colour so it didn’t look too punky with a wedding dress. And the bridesmaid dresses and bouquets were in similar tones (dusty blues and lavenders) so it looked intentional.
I don’t regret it at all. Some people will love it, and some people will probably think you’re out of your mind – but you can’t please everyone.

I currently have green in my hair and my hair was blue and green when I met my fiance. On Sunday it will be 1 week before my wedding. I will be getting my color re done, most likely rainbow highlights. My hair dresser has full control so I am not sure yet what we are doing. Some of my family and friends think I I am crazy for experimenting with my hair so close to the wedding. I figure it’s a one in a life time kind of thing and I always have crazy hair so go big or go home.

Kristen Ess makes a rose gold temporary tint that you can buy at Target. I’ve been wanting to try it myself, but my natural hair color is jet black so I would need to bleach first. If your hair color is naturally light, give it a shot.

I just got my hair done this past weekend for my wedding on may 19th. We took some photos similar to the style I will have for my wedding.

I have purple hair currently and have had some variation of creative hair colors for years and years. I wouldn’t feel like me without it, honestly. My wedding is coming up on June 8th, and I will most definitely be rocking my purple on the big day!
Here’s a pic of me in my dress at my last fitting.
I think if you love the color and it feels like you, then that’s what you should go with! The way I figure, there will always be something we won’t love about photos later on when we look back, whether it’s the style of clothes we wore, how our hair was done, or whatever. I mean, just think about how you feel when you look back on high school photos, right? Might as well do whatever you feel comfortable with NOW and rock it! 🙂

tullekitty : tell me more!!! I love the look!
I read this kind of colors wash out super quick, is that still true? How did you find a hairdresser who was able to do it?

MiaSuperstar : party colors especially pink and purples tend to fade super quick. To ensure that the color stays bold and vibrant for the wedding. I am only going to wash it twice this week. Once on Wednesday or Thursday and then again Saturday night. .I usually wash my hair every 2nd day and so I bought some dry shampoo to use in between washing. This is the first time I have ever had some variant of rainbow in my hair so I am going by my hair dressers suggestions.
My regular hair dresser is the one that did my hair this past weekend.
