It sounds like a good price to me. However, it all depends on which area you’re from.

Let’s just assume the value of the banquet hall is $1,500. That means it’s about $30 per head ($3,500/120 people) for food & drink. I’m sure it’s going to be more expensive once you include taxes & gratuity, but as a base price, it’s a better deal than what I would get in my area.

That sounds insanely cheap. My reception venue was $3,000 then food and non alc bev with servers, bartenders, tables, chairs, linens, plates etc was $8,000. Chair covers $300. 100 people.

suritababyy:  I agree with PP that it sounds pretty cheap! We are paying $6700 without beverage (we are setting an additional $2000 limit for hosted bar) and that does not include tax/gratuity or chiavari chairs. We will have lycra fitted chair covers.

suritababyy:  Our venue is a small quaint reception hall in a hotel, the fee was $1,800 plus there is a F+B minimum of $5,000. I did my homework prior, and this was the lowest cost of all the other places we were looking at.

So no, I do not think you are getting ripped off. Unfortunately that is how much venues are now days. Location is key too, the further away from beauitful scenery or downtown you are, the cheaper it will probably be.

This does sound cheap. I’ve just started looking in Toronto and the cheapest I can find so far is about $7,000 before taxes for 80 people! I’m not sure where you’re located, but that doesn’t seem like a bad price.

suritababyy:  Sounds like a great price (Jersey girl here, so anything under $20,000 is a steal!) Enjoy all the savings for your honeymoon!
