@jnj2014: Our original budget was $15K, then went up to $20K, and now we’re right at $23K with two weeks to go. That includes our wedding rings and my dress, but not the honeymoon. We’re having 60 people, but our location is somewhat destination and I feel like all the prices are inflated since its an island and you dont have another choice.

When all is said and done, I’m sure we will be at 20K for 120 people INCLUDING a formal reception, rings and our honeymoon. We had a total of 4K help from our parents, included in the 20K (and Fiance parents paid for rehearsal dinner – but that’s customary since my parents paid for the shower) and the rest we are paying for ourselves.
Like some other brides on here have stated: our money stretches farther in Ohio (another reason we picked here over Chicago – my home town), and we are not afraid to bargain with the wedding vendors. FI is an amazing negotiator/business man so we got some great deals. As a tip for those who are hesitant to negotiate, it never hurts to ask, the worst they can say is no on the deal. I’m sure they will still take your money and be your wedding vendor (be it florist, caterer, venue, etc.).
my sister is also getting married this year – in September in Chicagoland area – would you mind sharing some of your vendors that you liked? Her budget is very close to what you spent and she is having a hard time finding vendors in that price range.

Probably about 7K for about 100 people.

Because weddings are so expensive and we didn’t know what to expect, our plan was to work “on a budget but without a predetermined budget” if that makes any sense.
Overall, I imagined spending around 20k for 200 people. Likely it will be around 25k. That includes everything except the engagement ring and the honeymoon (which we will be taking 6 months later).

115 guests, we (H and I) spent around 12k for a cocktail event the night before the wedding and the wedding/reception the next day. It can be done!

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
When all was said and done we spent $5800 for a little over 40 guests. I think we made out like bandits though because that included the rental of a beach house for the week leading up to the wedding.

I just posted this link for the whole wedding beehive, but thought I’d put it here too. It’s wedding costs by county in the USA.

Wow! Some of you had huge budgets! I’d be interested in knowing how many of you had financial help with the wedding…

- Wedding: June 2014 - EDD 06/12/2016
we are using D’andrea banquets in crystal lake for the reception, paying about $35 per person including the food, wedding cake, linens, facility, tip. Their food is AMAZING and the event coordinator will help you with anything you need she is very very good at what she does and she knows what she’s doing as well. We are using a friend for a photographer so I can’t really help you there. Our dj is Al from Ameritunes, he has the best ratings and also plays the keyboard and saxophone during dinner. He was actually just in Las Vegas for an event, he is costing us I think $900 which includes up lighting. Those are the major things if you want to know more you can message me!

original budget was 5k. hoping to stay under 15k including honeymoon. we have huge family

It seems that no matter how we do our budget, (in terms of local or DW) it will just under 30K. The things that IMO take priority add up to $12,000 (dress, suit, photography, videography & rings). The rest is flowers, decor, food, open bar, DJ and any venue rental fees.

Wow…that much $$$ for one night in which about 98% of the people won’t even remember your anniversary? Unreal…

@jnj2014: We are aiming for $18k, to be split three ways between us, my parents, and his parents. Although I think it’ll be at least $20k.

about $28k for 75 people in baltimore.
$42k when we include rings and honeymoon in napa valley.

We’re looking at about $45-48k. Still waiting on the alcohol bill. It wasn’t really over budget. We didn’t really have a budget, we just tried to keep costs down. This was for 150 people and it includes the cost of our honeymoon.
