How do you pick them?
Do you let your bridesmaids decide?
Have you ever used Pantone?

@miascloset: I just had a vision of what I wanted my wedding to be (thanks pinterest). Also, my dress is a sherbet color, so that with narrowing it down.
i didnt officially pick colours really. bridesmaids are in blue (sort of a royal blue) as its my favourite colour, and the flowers are just sort of tropical looking – pinks, oranges, yellows as its a mexican beach wedding
I thought about what colors I liked and also what colors I thought would look nice on my bridesmaids and that was it
@miascloset: I have always liked purple. Then I learned how hard purple was..and how many shades there were! I finally settled on a nice berry color “Raddichio”. THEN it was time to pick other colors- I basically had a friend come up with light to medium pinks. I love it.
I would say think about the time of year your wedding is in and then what colors you like- there are LOTs of options!
For reference, here’s my vision (with dresses and flowers)
Eggplant, Navy, Silver, Ivory and Black… My 3 bms will be in each of the colors (1 in Eggplant, 1 in Navy, and my JrBM in Silver) my dress has eggplant on it
Yeah Pinterest is great for ideas.
For me, I always liked teal / turquoise. The rest of my colors are inspired by the garden wildflowers we’ll use in the wedding – bright dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, etc. I also just like the idea of a bright colorful wedding. So it’ll be turquoise, coral, peach, and yellow.
bridesmaids are just going to pick out their own knee-length teal / turquoise dress, so they have something they like and will rewear.
Thank you all.
I was thinking Pantone was the go to place for wedding colors but it seems not so much.
All your colors sound gorgeous!
@miascloset: its all about your vision. What are the colours that you like based on the season you are getting married. What do u think works well together
I picked everything, colors and dress. I made sure the girls were comfortable with the choice and gave them ike 5 different options but ultimately I chose it all =]
My colours were a no brainer. Purple is my favourite colour, grey was a perfect match and white and silver just seemed right. I’ve never changed the colours and never had any doubts about them. Everyone laughs when they hear my colour is purple, like they really thought it would be anything else? Lol

I spent a ton of time (and still do) looking at weddings and getting inspiration. I wouldn’t say to let your BM’s pick their own colors because they’re not all going to agree and direction is needed.
For my colors I chose Grey as the neutral (guy’s suits, my belt, linens, etc.), BM’s are in pacific blue, and the flowers are bright pinks and oranges with succulents mixed in. My inspiration is from a wedding I saw online.
We decided on an Autumn wedding because it’s our favorite season so we let that guide the colors. That’s how we ended up with chocolate brown, sage green and burnt orange.
