Hello everyone, I’m new here, and I thought my first post should be something that I’ve really struggled with… I will be 32 when we finally say our dos, but I’m really struggling with what is appropriate for a brides over 30 to wear.
I love a good ball gown, and although I’m almost positive it’s not my style, how much poof is to much for a more mature bride?
I would love to hear your thoughts, and see any dresses any over 30s have worn, thanks!

@Mrs.Thibs: IMO over 30 brides can still do an elegant ballgown, maybe not a princess foo-foo, but something elegant, why not? I’m gettting for the second time and we’re having an exceptionally small weding, so I went with a short dress. It stops at the bottom of my knee.

I was 32 when we got married over the summer. I didn’t let my age stop me from trying on all sorts of dresses and styles, nor did it stop me from getting my gorgeous dress. I say get what you want and what you love!!

I dont know where you live but in my neck of the woods, 32 isn’t an “older” bride. Women are delaying marriage for lots of valid reasons and lots of my friends/relatives are marrying around that age. My friends around the 22-26 year mark tell me their colleagues/classmates are surprised they’re married. I’m guessing this is a regional thing? Considering a 32 year old woman can probably afford a more expensive gown than her 22 year old counterpart, I say buy the biggest, frilliest, poofiest gown you can find!!

I’m in love with all of your gowns! Thanks for sharing! You may have just changed my idea of what direction I need to go dress wise 🙂
I wouldn’t say it’s a regional thing per say, I am from the north east, although living in the south now, I will admit that there is most definetly an age image issue I seem to have come across while shopping lately.
Maybe it is just a thing in my own head… After seeing the brides above rock their gowns, i do feel a bit more confident about broadening my dress search to different styles… Maybe I will go a little poofier 🙂

i’m 31. this will be my dress. with soem alterations up top and taken in a little bit as well. 🙂
31 isn’t old maid age around here (yet!?) I didn’t even think about the fact dresses might be too “young” for me.

@Mrs.Thibs: What’s most important is how you feel in the dress. Try any/everything on and pick one you love. I don’t think you fall into the “mature bride” age bracket yet by any means. Good luck!!!
