I will be 34 when I get married and am getting married for the second time and I never thought of some styles of dress being ‘too young’! I have gone for a short ballgown style (don’t have a pic) but that’s mainly because we are getting married on the beach. i would have had a long dress otherwise.

I say go for what suits you and what you feel beautiful. I think you only need to worry about being age appropriate if you are quite a bit older than you, i.e. i can’t imagine a 60 year old would want, or look best in, a big ballgown. Although they might!

@Brielle:  Thanks. You had a gorgeous dress too. I sure will post pics when I get the dress – with one caveat …  I never got to try on the dress as I am plus size, so I’m taking a big risk with it. I am pear-shaped and am worried about the first tier if ruffles making my widest point look even wider, but I was assured it could be tailored for a more flattering fit if that is the case.   But if it is still horrible, I’m not sharing. Fingers crossed!

@Mrs.Thibs:  I’m nearly 36 and getting married in 7 months. Here’s my dress! Don’t let anyone make you feel like certain styles are off limits. Whatever makes you feel beautiful should be the rule of thumb for you!

@Mrs.Thibs:  I’ll be 31 when we say “I do” and this is my dress:

I say try on a ton of different dresses…in styles you’re drawn to (BALLGOWNS!), and even in those you’re not.  Get a feel for what looks good on you and decide what you want to wear based on finding something you LOVE (or like a lot; not everyone has that AH HA! moment, and that’s OK) and not with any thought of being an “older” bride.  Which, 32?  Not old.  🙂

I had an ex whose dad got remarried.  His fiance had never been married, but was in her late 40s or early 50s and ended up with a full on wedding gown when she thought she would just get something simple because of her age.  She found a traditional wedding gown she loved, despite her worries about being an “older” bride, and she looked fantastic in the photos.

Wear what you want.  Screw what anyone might think.  It’s your day!
