@medbride:  Well, I bought my bridal gown at an online store. But, I’ve seen some ladies buy from JCrew and some other big name department stores. 🙂 Sorry the names aren’t coming to me right now lol. You could even look to have a dress made, it could be cheaper!

I think she means Ruche (http://shopruche.com/)

I would also suggest taking a look at sellers on Etsy!

I bought mine at Nordstrom. It’s not floor length. This the stock photo. It was only $158.

@medbride:  I completely understand your hesitation to buy something without trying it on first. At least Nordstrom has a great return policy. Although, I’m not sure how that works with you being in Canada. Let us know what you end up purchasing.

I got my dress at SimplyBridal (http://www.simplybridal.com/).  It’s an actual, physical boutique in California that sells its dresses online to brides’ measurements.  I actually won mine in one of their contests after they first opened, I’m super-happy with my dress!  It truly is beautiful, though it did require alterations.  It’s definitely something to consider if you’re looking for a traditional-ish dress with a reasonable price tag, they have lots of options.
