So a DOC is not possible on our budget. But it occurred to me as I was thinking through the logistics… I’m not sure how to run our rehearsal.
A friend of ours is performing the ceremony, which we wrote. Our venue has an event guy, but he said he pretty much just tells people when to go out down the aisle, etc. We have a DJ to MC the reception… so what should we do for the ceremony? Should I chart out what’s supposed to happen? Should I or Fiance run it the first time through, and then go from there? Should I give our officiant friend the instructions?
Gah, I’m so confused.

I think you should write out all your instructions, and give copies to everyone so they know exactly what is expected of them. The actual running of the rehersal, I think, is done by the officiant, but I think a collaborative effort here would probably ensure that everything gets done the way you want it to!

If you really can’t have a rehearsal, you don’t necessarily need one. Just tell the boys and girls how to line up and how long to wait to walk down the aisle. They’ll figure it out.
However, I did go to one rehearsal that was held in the bride’s parents’ driveway. She basically ran through walking down the aisle and back, it was short and to-the-point. The wedding went smoothly the next day.
