I am so happy I eloped. I don’t regret it at all and did not miss having others there. The day was stress free and we were focused on each other.  We hired a photographer so we were able to email out pictures the next day. We did have a party 2 months after our wedding so we were able to celebrate with everyone.

We’re not eloping, but I have a two really close girlfriends who did elope when they married their husbands.  One really regrets not having the big wedding (even 11 years later), the other couldn’t be happier.  I think it’s going to depend on you and your Fiance completely.  Talk about it a lot and then go with whatever decision you come to.  Try not to second guess yourself… because I also know plenty of people who have done big weddings and wished they eloped 😉

my sister eloped. didn’t tell anyone, and just did it. and they couldn’t be happier. she said that listening to me plan my wedding was stressful enough! they JOP’d it, with a photographer they hired, and had a great party afterwards. it was a no-frill’s affair. she told me after everything was said and done that it felt right for her because her and her husband are quiet people who don’t like alot of attention put on them, and it was much more intimate she said. she didn’t have to worry about who sat at what table, and aunt josey getting so drunk she passed out. she basically told me it was for anyone who felt like they just wanted to be married, instead of getting married. if that makes sense. 🙂

We are doing a legal ceremony with just immediate family and then a big interfaith ceremony with ~70 people a few days later. Hopefully no one offended; hopefully best of both worlds 🙂
