I am the opposite… an event planner planning my own wedding. I have found the process to be stressful on a very different level than my job. I know what I want, and I have all of the vendors at my fingertips to make it possible, but I am finding myself questioning all of the decisions that normally come so easly to me as an event designer.

That being said, the event industry is exciting, challenging, detail oriented, and fast paced. There are many facets to event planning that a ‘regular bride’ would not know about. You are working for a client, or various clients at the same time, so you have to be able to think fast on your feet about their needs, thier vision and what fits within their budget. If a bride were to just start a business after planning her own wedding alone I would think it wouldn’t/couldn’t do very well – clients will want to know how many events you have put on, your relationship to various vendors with different styles and costs, and the variety of events you have put on. If you have only had experiences with your own wedding then you wouldn’t be able to answer to these questions.

If you are interested in learning more about the event industry, please feel free to PM me.
