I ordered a petite length. I’m 5’2 3/4” (the 3/4 inch counts!) and I wore almost 3 inch heels. It was a little long, so I had to add a petticoat to make the skirt kick out a little bit more so I wouldn’t trip over it, so you might be able to pull off a tiny little kitten heel. I would wait to buy the shoes until after your dress comes in. Mine came in almost 2 months early than they said it would.

I’m 5’5 and ordered the 3 inch shorter dress.  It came in and I tried it on with my four and a half inch heels.  It perfectly just reaches the ground. Here’s a picture so you can see the length.  Mine came in about a month early too.   [attachment=1540078,193925]

My daughter ordered a petite and she’s almost 5’4″…she planned on wearing flats and the length was perfect. She couldn’t have worn any heels at all as the length was barely to the floor.

There are two different “petite” lengths — there is an official “petite” length, which costs extra, and there is a 3′ shorter lengtht that is no extra charge. I think the previous posters have described the variation between them well, but I just wanted to clarify that you can order in either of those two.

I did have to pay $150. extra for it to be made in the petite length. Good point.

I ordered mine in the shorter length and I am also 5’5″ and intended to wear converse all stars and will need to wear a full heel to keep from altering the dress.

I have the standard length. I’m 5’4″ and wearing 4″ heels and it hits the ground perfectly. So I’m thinking if you’re an inch taller than me and your dress is 3″ shorter, that it would hit the ground perfectly with flats…

I think the style of the dress and possibly the size probably make a huge difference.  Like I said, I’m 5’5 and wearing 4.5 inch heels and it hits the ground perfectly with the three inch shorter size but everyone’s answers seem to vary a lot.

5’4.5″ and I got the free version of petite.  Didn’t realize I could pay extra to get it even shorter.. wasn’t given that option.  When it came in I tried it on with 4″ heels and it still needs another few inches (maybe 2-3?  I don’t remember) of hemming.  I got the tall heels with hopes that I wouldn’t need it hemmed but now that I do anyway, I might just switch to flats or a lower heel just so I don’t stress my feet out as much.

Maggie Sottero makes the dresses only 3″ front shorter or 5″ front shorter and that is not available on all gowns. Which gown did you order?
