I’ve only done JCrew.com and DavidsBridal.com.  I wish I had more advice!

@lindseyl06:  I ordered one from Etsy and one from eBay. I had great results with both and love the security of using Paypal 🙂

David’s Bridal – I am 54 and didn’t want stapless, poufy or a train (I will wear it bustled). Wanted lace and most of all didn’t want to look ridiculous!!

I bought my dress from http://www.bestbridalprices.com/ . They have a brick-and-mortar in IL and I went there. They sell AUTHENTIC dresses at lower prices. I got my Allure for $336. I was very satisfied with them and their customer service. They were friendly and accomodating after we had issues with Allure shipping my dress in time. I’d recommend them.

I bought my dress from etsy, there are a ton of sellers selling custom-made dresses they’ve designed on there and a lot who specialize in design reproduction as well.  My dress was designed by my seller and will be custom-made, and I’m super happy with the process so far in regards to the communication. Plus, as someone else said, the security of paying via paypal, which guarantees my purchase.

Ebay! You just need to be careful of who the seller is and what they are tryng to sell you. Most sellers, if you are looking for a designer gown, will offer the certificate of authenticity. There should also be MANY photos of the gown. It is a plus if they accept returns too. Paypal is a great and safe way to do business.
