We’ve got a similar number of guests, but we’re keeping a large cake and just planning on have everyone taking a slice home with them as well!

We are having 50 or less guests too.

Everyone of our guests loves cake, so we ordered a 6″, 8″, 10″ cake. It serves 75, but we know it will get eaten. We all do not plan to keep the top layer.

I was trying to figure this out the other day, too… I anticipate a 40-50 guest wedding myself! a 6″ and an 8″ should be just right! For comparrison, one website I read suggested a 10″ and an 8″ for 65 guests.

Personally I was considering one 12″ round (more budget friendly, and cake isn’t one of our priorities).

Just had my wedding on Saturday with 53 guests.

We had a cake that was 10″, 8″, 6″ and we had the entire top tier left over. We forgot to tell them to put it out (instead of saving it for us) but I am sure it would have gone if we did!

If you are worried about the size and how it will appear, look for a pedestal stand, so that it sits up off of the table. Just talk to your baker to see if they have one or look for one yourself. It should be at least one inch wider than the bottom of your cake, but check with your baker to make sure, just in case you might need a larger size.
