I mainly wear glasses, as I have long work days, but own contacts that I wear for special occasions or when I want to show off eye makeup, or when I work out. I wore contacts on my wedding day. I would highly recommend wearing contacts. You want to show off those beautiful eyes!!! Also, say ten years from now you don’t like the glasses you were wearing on your wedding day. (I change my style each time I get new glasses). You’d have to look at them in your pictures forever !

I have both glasses and contacts. I wear glasses maybe 60% of the time, but I will wear contacts on my big day so everyone can see the lashes and make-up I’ll be spending big bucks on 🙂
If you want to try contacts I would recommend getting them asap because it can take a while to get to the point where your eyes can tolerate wearing them for 16+ hours.
And definitely use a fresh pair on your big day. It makes a big difference!

I’ve seen pictures of beautiful brides with glasses on, modern day and from a few decades ago. Check out vintage shots of brides from the fifties :). I think wear your glasses if you love them and love yourself in them! Otherwise, trial a pair of contacts for the big day.

I’ve worn glasses since 4th grade, can’t wear contacts because my eyes are super sensitive, and when I take my glasses off I feel naked and think I look weird. So i will be wearing my glasses. I don’t care if people think it’s weird. I’d want to feel like myself and be able to see my husband to be without squinting!

If you want to try contacts, go for it! It really is personal preference. But I don’t buy the reasoning that photos will look dated because almost everything will date our photos a decade from now. I probably won’t wear them for all pics, but I’ll wear them 99% of the time.
If you FEEL beautiful (glasses or not) it will show in your pictures!
PS – would everyone bashing glasses so fervently do the same for the groom???

I did glasses. Ive worn glasses since like 3rd/4th grade. Ive done without glasses for passport pics and DMV pics and I come out cross eyed and squinty! My wedding pics with glasses was the best choice ive ever done.

take them off for pictures and ceremony. Have some with and without glasses. Change it up a little. The good thing about glasses is they are easy to take off and on.

I got contacts about 6 months before my wedding. I’m glad I had the time because I realized for me, i can’t wear them and take Claritin at the same time. they just get totally dry. No amount or brand of drops can overcome it. That took some trial and error to figure out. And in general I need to stay well hydrated. If I do, I don’t even think about them. So you can take to them pretty quickly. I’m so so happy I went for it. I thought I’d never do contacts. I can’t stand touching my eyes. But i just love how my pictures came out. almost makes me sad I didnt get them for my engagement pictures.

- Wedding: November 2015 - The Gables at Chadds Ford
I’ve worn glasses for awhile with every intention of someday trying contacts, but I never did. I will be married in November and earlier this year I decided to try contacts because I didn’t want to have to worry about my glasses at the wedding – I had a habit of constantly pushing them up my nose (& phantom pushing nothing if they were off!), or laying down with them and getting them crooked, or putting them down and not remembering where…all the good stuff! So I got contacts with the intention of getting myself used to them, if possible, so I could at least wear them on the wedding day. That was in January, and I think I have worn my glasses maybe 4 times since then. I love wearing contacts because I feel like I got my face back, so to speak, and they’re pretty easy. I struggle with them sometimes, (I swear my eyelashes attack my eyes & wrinkle the lenses on purpose) but overall it has been so great. I would give yourself a little more than a month, if you can, but even then if it’s going to work for you then that should be enough time. Sorry for the novel – I just can’t say enough good things about making the switch! Good luck with your eyesight journey!

I wear glasses every day. I tried contacts once, and couldn’t do it. They are fine once i get them on, but I have to get my fiance to put them in for me. I can not put them in myself. I do plan on getting a pair to wear for the ceremony and pictures. After that getting my glasses back out. Maybe get some special blingy ones.

I went without my glasses for the ceremony and formals, and wore my glasses for the reception.

I used contacts. I have them just for special occasions. I think it made our photos look better. Plus you could see my make-up better.

I’m honestly terrified of putting something in my eye, I’m afraid they will get stuck or I will poke my eye out. I wear glasses al, the time, I really can’t see well without them but i don’t want to wear them on my wedding day so I’m i a bit of a predicament.., do I suck it up and not see people well or do I try contacts even though I’m terrified??!! NO IDEA WHAT TO DO AND IVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A LOT

Haha, yes, haven’t posted in this thread, but I’d be the first to tell my groom no glasses if he wasn’t already in line in front of me!
The difference is how one feels in them. He and I both think that we look better without glasses. He wears contacts all the time while I go day to day in glasses because I can’t handle more than a few hours in contacts. Don’t really know what I’ll do for the big day. Lazer eye surgery perhaps…
If you think you look great or better in glasses, then your answer is pretty easy.

My wife and I both wore our glasses for our wedding. I used to wear contacts religiously, but I have really dry eyes. I don’t know how I’d have kept my eyes open in all of the pictures if I’d been wearing contacts. Maybe I’m biased but it think we were still pretty cute! 😉
