I was diagnosed with lupus when I was 17! I have problems with me left hand (go figure) and my middle and ring finger use to bother me a lot. Now, on plaquenal they only bother me from time to time. What do you girls do about your rings? Is there a certain metal you prefer/do you have a “ring keeper” necklace? I’m a size 5.5 or 5.75 when I’m not swollen, so I don’t want to go up a ton of sizes since my diamond is big. I don’t know. Sorry for the rambling, I’d just like to know what y’all did?

Yep! Same problem though I am an older “bride.” I’ve tried all sorts of methods to make my rings fit comfortable, including but not limited to sizing balls, hinges etc. When my fingers are swollen I just leave them on or off. I’ve sized my rings soooo many times. Good luck, and most importantly, feel well!

Hello! I have RA and have had symptoms for several years before diagnosis. I have issues with my left hand too – mainly trigger finger in my ring finger. But I’ve had swelling too. When not swollen my finger is 7- 7.5 but when I was measured I think I was swollen to 7.75 or 8 – there’s a bit of space so both rings do turn when not swollen but don’t slip off. I have platinum and love it. I don’t mind the everyday scratches on the surface.
If you have issues with being too swollen to get on and off I’d either have the ring resized just a tad bigger like .25 or so. Either that or the keeper necklace would be a good choice too.
My good thoughts to you on the wedding day – my hands and shoulders ached during the morning – but I made sure to keep hydrated and let things go so I was relaxed and laughing the entire time. Thankfully my ankles and knees didn’t bother me much that day – I’m a firm believer in mind set (pain can bring you down in the worst ways) and I was determined to love my day. And I did. I needed a little help but it was a side note not a main focus at all.

I’m 27 and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome when I was 22. I did gymnastics for about 18 years so I’m sure more arthritis is to come. My hands swell alot, mostly in the summer but in the winter the hurt very badly and sometimes I can’t stand wearing my rings. My ring size is a 3.5 so I got my rings in a size 4 to allow some room for swelling. However when I’m having a flare up I can’t even get them over my knuckles. I’ve seen rings that are for arthritis and the have hinges on them so you can put them on without sliding them down your fingers, but I assume that would limit ring style options. So I basically just don’t wear my rings when my carpal tunnel is acting up. I have though about buying a plain white gold wedding band several sizes too big to wear on those days.

I had botched sand surgery that causes pain, swelling, etc. Picking and wearing a wedding ring has been hard. My fingers are a 6.5 but can swell up to an 8. Becasue of this I bought my rings in size 7. I have one ring that is a size 8 for when my hands are swolen. When they are really bad I wear a 1mm gold band. I also keep ring sizers in my wallet, so as the day go I can attach one to my ring to keep it in place. Thus far this one has been the best:
I cut them to diffrent sizes and just pick what I need at that moment.

My arthritis is only in my back, but I did see a ring style that looks like it would work for you. It doesn’t have a hinge, more like a floating sizer. It’s not letting me link it, but I saw it in the Etsy shop for Wilson Brothers and it was called a Forever Fit. I’m sure a jeweler could find one or make one for you.
