@Glittergirl_2013:  I hate to say it, but you are being unreasonable. My lawyer friends are all on salary and all of them work weekends regularly no matter what. It sucks, but it’s really common for the field.

ETA: What still needs to be done? Can you take longer lunches and stay later to accomplish your wedding tasks instead of taking off weekends?

I’m in a small tier firm and my old secretary earns more than me.

@Glittergirl_2013:  Is there any chance of you finding another firm to work for after the wedding?  It sounds like the one you’re at sucks.

My old job we had to work whatever hours they asked and they DID not pay overtime. Were you not aware of this when they hired you? I’m not a lawyer but my old job I was making about $50k.

It is busy season right now for me and I am expected to work weekends. My wedding is coming up in March also, and I haven’t even told my boss yet bc I am dreading his reaction. Oh well…I guess I’m fortunate to have this job so working the weekends is worth it? (That is what I tell myself to justify it!)

My friend is a lawyer and does not work weekends ever. She is a 1st year personal injury atty and makes $80k a year. I would work weekends for $80k a year not $50k. Just sayin’……
