Hi, I am thinking of having red lips on wedding day and I can’t decide on a shade. Are there any brides out there who went for this look? Do you mind sharing your bridal makeup look with me? Also if you are a regular red lipstick wearer, what are your favourite shades?

Haven’t gotten married yet, but I highly recommend Besame Cosmetics. They have several very nice reds, and they wear really well.

Kat Von D “Underage Red”, Too Faced “Lady Balls” (this is REEEEDDD) I also like “Avenue” from Colour Pop for a darker red.

Not married yet but my makeup artist has this on her website and I always thought it was beautiful!
I wear red lipstick about once a week, my favourite shades are a bit brighter than this though. I like Creeper by Colourpop, and Ruby Woo by Mac! 🙂

I’m going to be wearing Revlon Ultimate Suede lipstick in Backstage. It’s a really nice berry colour that has amazing staying power.

Lipsticks from Bésame Cosmetics, as a PP mentioned, are great; I recommended them a few days ago to a Bee who asked for cruelty-free long lasting lipsticks.
If you’d like to explore additional alternatives, I highly recommend O Boticário, a makeup brand from Brazil (http://www.boticario.com). If it’s a concern of yours, they are also cruelty-free. I’ve used both of these, and they are lovely:

oooo mg Thank you for that photo! Its stunning. Love love it. I want red/burgundy lips (I’m wearing a gold wedding dress too, like the dress in the photo, though mine isn’t sequined or anything). I’m also DIYing makeup and this looks doable. PINNING THIS NOW! <3

I love Smashbox Legendary (the color – they also have a line called legendary).

I spent years not being able to get on with red lipstick. I’m quite pale and dark haired with big lips (sounds nice lol) and no reds ever looked right. They made my lips look like they’d been stuck on my face.
Then I learnt about orange-toned reds! Most are blue-toned and if you have a warm complexion like me, they aren’t gonna work for you. Chanel Rouge Allure in Incandescente was a random purchase for me and it’s been a total game changer. Always had one since. The orange toned red pops but never looks unnatural or out of place.
MAC Ruby Woo is meant to be a great one for everybody too but never tried it.

The Nars Velvet Lip pencil in Cruella is beautiful!

I second Chanel’s Rouge Allure. I currently own 6 tubes, 4 of which are different shades of red. I need that orange-ish tube though! The mac one I have looks out of place
Just to show what some of the colors look like (although the pic doesn’t do the colors justice): I use Palpitante on days I want less red (for simpler makeup looks) and Passion for intense reds. I’ve been dying to try on some of the other reds.

they are all so beautiful. I’m going to check them out on my lunch break. What sort of eye makeup do you pair with these lipsticks?

Never even clicked you were a Yorkshire bee when I wrote my first comment! Hello from Derbyshire!
I usually just do a really clean, sleek cat eye (and strong brows ofc) when I’m wearing red lipstick. Lots of people will say that you shouldn’t do dramatic eyes with red lippy but I think it really depends on your colouring.

My usual eye makeup is neutral colored eyeshadows, sometimes a smokey eye for just a little depth or just contouring the socket with a light brown eyeshadow. A subtle winged liner look is my go to. I go over the eyeliner again if I’m transitioning from day to night and have fierece cat eyes.
Something that looks really nice for a nighttime looks is bright red lips, peachy (few shades darker than skin) countour for the eyes, shimmery white eyeshadow, thin cat liner and dewy skin.
