I went bridesmaid dress shopping this weekend with some of my girls and fell in love with this dress. It’s made by Andrew Adela and comes in a beautiful taffeta fabric. I had originally planned on all 4 girls in different dresses that compliment their styles/bodies. But I just love this one! The color I’m planning on is called sapphire, a dark blue that shimmers to purple, which was my original choice for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.
What does everyone think? Should I tell the girls I want that dress? Should I still let them do 4 different dresses in taffeta? Should I do 2 and 2?

If you want all your bridesmaids to wear the same dress, then they should be willing to do so. I would say have them all wear it, or at least run it by them to see how they feel about the dress. You might find that they all love it and would have picked the same one, anyways!

@katydid271: Love that dress! What color would the sash be?
I’d definitely let your BMs know what you’re thinking – have they gotten to see/try it on?

Maybe have a different color sash for your Maid/Matron of Honor than the rest of the BMs?

If you want them to wear that dress have them all at least try it on!

I am letting my bm’s have different styles, but really that dress is quite lovely and I think it could be fairly flattering on most shapes (looks a little A-line in the picture and that’s usually very flattering).
One of the things I personally feel strongly about, when I am a bridesmaid, is that I will wear a burlap potato sack if that’s your choice as the bride, and I will smile too!!!

Thanks for your responses! Two of the girls were able to try it on, and it looked good on both of them. One of the girls wasn’t there, and the other one couldn’t because the sample was too small, which I feel awful about! I am potentially asking her to get a dress that she hasn’t been able to try on, which sucks! I’m thinking of either gray for the sash (the guy’s suits will be gray) or ivory.
I’ve asked the girls and my sister (MOH) was one of the ones who tried it on a loved it. My Future Sister-In-Law said she’ll wear anything and the other 2 like it. I guess I’m just nervous about people saying they like it just to please me…

@katydid271: The SAME exact thing happened to me! I have five BMs, all with very different tastes in styles as well as different body types. I had originally told them all that they could just pick different dresses, so long as they were all the same color (eggplant purple). Lo and behold, my Maid/Matron of Honor tried on a dress she pulled and everyone else begged to try it on when she was done. They all looked so beautiful in it! I told myself as they were all trying that if one or two of the girls didn’t like the way it looked on them, I would totally be okay with them selecting other dresses, per the original plan. They didn’t, though, and now I’ve gone from having mix-matched BMs to matching BMs!
The dress they chose is kind of similar to the one you posted, too! Must be a flattering shape! (Bill Levkoff #116. Won’t upload for some reason!)

I agree that it’s a pretty dress and it looks like it would be flattering to different body types.
I would either have all the Bridesmaid or Best Man wear the same dress or dress all of them differently. I think it would look kind of odd to have 2 of them in the same dress and the other 2 in different dresses.

Everyone in the same dress, only person who could be different would be the Maid/Matron of Honor.

I personally want my bridesmaids wearing the same dress. I have chosen a dress that I hope works best for all of their body types. As for my maids of honor, I will have them “stand out” in a different way (ie boquet, or something subtle). It’s way less of a stress to pick one dress and have that be it!
