 @serenabride:  If she is cutting you out of her life, merely because you cannot afford another set of dresses, she needs to grow up. Give her time.

If she is so disappointed that she can’t be in your wedding party that she can’t bear any contact with you,, you could still have both your sister and her if they can simply wear a dress they already own.

I think it’s kind of ludicrous to cut people out of your wedding party over dresses. Why not have them all wear black dresses and be done with it? Most people already own a black dress.

@serenabride:  If she is having this temper tantrum because you told her you couldn’t afford to buy another dress, she is not being much of a friend at all.

 Your daughters don’t have to wear black. Everything goes with black.

OP, I can see why she might be a little upset, even though I think her ignoring you is totally immature and rude. Still, once you’ve asked someone to be a bridesmaid, I think cutting them out should be the absolute last resort, and reserved only for cases of an extreme falling-out.

@stillme:  +1 This, exactly.

Even if your friend is being a little ridiculous I can understand how hurt she would be. I know where you are it is expected the bride and groom pay for the wedding party’s clothes. Perhaps there were a few too many in your party with your budget.

Are you absolutely sure the dresses are not salvageable? A seamstress may be able to fix it.

I agree with the black … Everyone can wear a coloured pashmina that matches your daughters’ dress colours. Pashminas are not that expensive either.
