Just tell her you picked a shorter dress, and “well, no one will be looking at your legs anyway!” or something like that.

Ha – no one will be looking at her! Plus she has a few months to tone up 🙂

I wouldn’t take her comment too seriously. Don’t get violent! 😉

I think you are over reacting big time. DId she know you had already picked the dress? I think we all have insecurities and it sounded like that was her point, not that she was saying “no way would I wear a short dress”.

@sussie:  I doubt she would absolutely refuse to wear the dress and if she does then you don’t want her in the wedding anyways. No where in my post did I ever say to pick a different dress just for her. I do think you are making this into more then it is.

It sounds like it was just an off-handed comment, nothing serious. I can understand that you’re stressed and tired of people making requests (we all are!) but I don’t think she meant it as a big deal. I wouldn’t kick her out yet!

@sussie:  “exactly! i just told her, o well then i will have to ask someone else who will put their selfish traits aside and be willing to wear what i ask JUST FOR ONE DAY.”

Yes in my opinion that was very bridezillaish!

Obviously she has body issue concerns. I think you could have been a little bit more supportive of her rather than calling her slefish. You could have said- I am really sorry that you feel that way because I did see the BM’s as wearing a short under knee length dress. I completely understand if you decide not to be a Bridesmaid or Best Man but I really would love to have you as my Bridesmaid or Best Man.

I think you are being a bit of a bridezilla, there is nothing wrong with long dresses for spring. I got married last year in early June and it was 80 some degrees and sunny out. My girls had long dresses and loved the dresses.

Everyone has body insecurities and for you to say “exactly! i just told her, o well then i will have to ask someone else who will put their selfish traits aside and be willing to wear what i ask JUST FOR ONE DAY.” is rather off putting

@sussie:  Where in South Africa are you getting married?

Event though september is technically spring its generally not quite blisteringly hot yet. Maybe a compromise would be (skin colour) stockings?

I hate my legs… I feel super uncomfortable with them showing. I do wear dresses but I’ve always got tights or stockings on… and it just makes me feel better
