Has anyone had their bridesmaid do their own hair and/or makeup? If so how did it go with the timeline? How did the pictures turn out? Were they happy or dissapointed?
My BMs are beautiful and I would totally trust them to do a good job. I know that when I have been a Bridesmaid or Best Man before I hated having someone who didn’t know my skin and hair type just do whatever they wanted.

knim: I did my own makeup as a bridesmaid a couple times. I thought it turned out very nice in pictures and really appreciated saving the money! I haven’t done my own hair because I’m not really comfortable styling it beyond my everyday blow dry style, but I know plenty of women do a great job self-styling.

I had my stylist come to my hotel (she was also invited to the wedding) and I let my bridesmaids decide if they wanted to have hair, makeup, both, or neither done. Only my Maid/Matron of Honor wanted both done and one bridesmaid wanted hair. It was fine and everyone looked beautiful! I do have some hair and makeup savvy friends, as well as one bridesmaid who has very short hair, so it wouldn’t have been worth it to her to pay for her hair to be done.

As a bridesmaid, I’ve never had my makeup done! I think the pictures came out fine.
Usually I’ve had my hair done as a bridesmaid, although I’ve done it myself twice. Once I just blew dry it straight, the other I did a sock bun. I would not have felt comfortable doing a more complicated style though.

I have never had my makeup done as a bridesmaids and all of my bridesmaids did their own makeup. It turned out great.

I don’t really know how to do makeup/hair very well so I’d prefer to get mine done as a bridesmaid. However, I have no problem with other bridesmaids doing their own hair/makeup! My bridesmaids for my wedding got both professionally done with me (but they had the choice to do their own).

knim: I am terrible doing hair and makeup! So if I was a bridesmaid I would make sure that I got both professionally done! To me, that is one of the funnest parts of the day! Getting all dolled up for pictures!!

As a maid I have always opted to pay for professional hair, and I’ve done my own make-up. I paid for my bridal party to get hair and make-up done, if they wanted it. They all opted for the professional services and really enjoyed the pampering.

I will be giving my Bridesmaid or Best Man the choice but i think they will choose a professional, especially because two of them are older and would both be able to apreciate and afford a professional. Id only ask that they have half up/half down or all down because my hair will be up?!..

I gave mine the choice. All of them got their hair done and all but one got their makeup done as well.

3 of my bridesmaids did their makeup and hair themselves and it turned out great. They arrived when the others did and just started getting ready at the same time as everyone else. The pictures turned out great! 🙂

I told my bridesmaids they could either show up an hour and a half before the ceremony (we took pictures afterwards so timing wasn’t that important) with their hair and makeup done or they could use the hairdresser and makeup person who was doing mine but they’d have to pay. Some paid, some did their own, they all looked lovely.

I told my BMs they could do whatever. My Maid/Matron of Honor and one other Bridesmaid or Best Man did their own hair and makeup. They looked great.

My wedding isn’t until Sept. but I gave mine the choice as well. All of them said they will do their hair and all but one for the makeup. Im not worried, I think she’ll do an awesome job.

Two of my bridesmaids were my sisters and got their hair and makeup done by the pro we hired for us. My Matron of Honor didn’t get back to me in time to figure out whether or not she would be getting her hair and makeup done so she said she would have it done close to her before driving out to the venue.
Only she never went because she decided it was too expensive. Then she showed up twenty minutes late, with no makeup on, and her damp hair in a bun on top of her head and asked if it was possible to have the MUA slap a bit on. MUA had already left and Matron of Honor looks SO out of place in the wedding photos.
