heatherelizabeth514:  Have you tried David’s Bridal? My more budget-conscious BMs opted to get their dresses there. I had each of my BM’s pick out their own dress as long as they were long and within my wedding colors.

I’m a big fan of Alfred Angelo. Most cities have bridal shops that sell his dresses. What I’m doing is telling my BMs to pick a dress from AA in a specific color, fabric, and length. That way they can get something they like and look good in no matter their body type. They also have all their dresses up to size 30W. And unlike DB pretty much all their dresses come in all their colors. And the majority of their dresses are under $200. Most are around $175.

In terms of fabric, I think chiffon would go very nicely with your dress. Your dress is similar to mine (lace over netting/tulle). Plus, I find that as a Bridesmaid or Best Man I would rather have a chiffon dress than satin or something super heavy that looks bridal because then you can really never wear it again.

First off breathe!!!!! 😀 Secondly your dress is GORGE!!!! Third I know you said no online sites but I’d say check out weddingtonway.com because it’s been helping us a bunch; you can order fabric swatches, collab with your BMs (they can pic dresses they like, leave comments on the ones you like etc) and they have a lot of different style.

Now that that’s out of the way…. when where and what time of day is your wedding? I ask because all of those things played a big part to me in picking Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. The time of year and the venue … I know you say you dont have general decor down yet but has yor wedding taken on a style of any sort yet? No biggie if it hasn’t or never will but it could be helpful. What are these colors that you’re ready to change? Have you thought about simply giving your girls a color and letting them pick whatever they’d like from there?

heatherelizabeth514:  first off… can we switch bridal parties please!!! lol i only have two in mine and they are the pickiest couple of hens! i do understand your frustration there is nothing more annoying that dealing with people who have an opinion but no suggestions *cough* my fiance *cough* lol so i get that BIG time. are all of your ladies local? it may be time to get them all together again specifically for a find the dress outing. if everyone is concerned that about being able to try them on in person well then they need to DO that lol it’s as simple as that.

otherwise i’d skip being concerned about matching body types and just pick say five dresses that you absolutely love … maybe not even five take it down to three because some folks get annoying when they have too many choices… send it to them and say these are you choices flat out. if they love them great! if they don’t i bet you’ll get a bunch of specific opinions as to why they dont and that could help you narrow down a style. basically instead of asking what they do like force them into telling you what they don’t if that makes sense?

heatherelizabeth514:  It is definitely overwhelming, and I understand how much you try not to stress abou everything but it happens.

I second Alfred Angelo, as that is what my girls wore. I was looking for a specific color blue and that line had it. So, I just told them any style as long as it was in that color, it was long, and in chiffon.

I went to a local store in town (which had better prices than others) with one of my Bridesmaid or Best Man and she tried on MANY styles to find the on the fit and flattered her the most. My sister (MOH) lives in a different city, so she just went to a salon that carried the line and found one she liked. Then, I gave that information to the store in town and they were ordered.

Another great online site is http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com. I went there and tried on dresses, and have heard good things about ordering online. Prices are comparable to what I found locally.

I second the suggestion of choosing your length, fabric and color and allowing your BM’s to choose their style. It takes the pressure off you and your wedding party.

Dessy also has dresses from size 0-30.

Make your choice then give your BM’s a date by which they must either order themslves, or get their information to you so you can place a group order.

I highly suggest you focus on the things that only you can do, and let your wedding party make the choices that make little or no difference to your wedding- the style of their dress, their shoes, jewelry etc.
