Hi, I’m brand new to this website but have a question! I have 4 bridesmaids and will have everyone wear the same bridesmaid dress color. The thing i’m debating is having two bridesmaids wear one dress and the other two wear another to fit the different body types. I’m afraid it might look weird since there’s only 4 of them. Any opinions or suggestions?

welcome! i don’t think that will look weird at all–there will be a nice, subtle variety while still having the color tie them together. if you look at mrs. sunbeam’s recent recaps, she had all her bridesmaids wearing a lovely shade of red, but they were all different styles, and people couldn’t get enough of them! what color are you using?

I’m going to use a watermelon pink color. I’ll look up the person your talking about! thanks for the advice!

Totally! It’s called SBD..Same but different! Here’s a link with some pics of bridal parties that did this, and they all look awesome! I’m planning to do something similar (same colour and fabric, but different styles)

We did that when I was in my aunts wedding. The two bigger girls wore different dresses than myself and another bridesmaid. It looked really good!
I’m only having 2 bridesmaid and I’m tempted to tell them to just go find a brown dress if we can’t find anything they’ll both wear.

My bridal party of 5 are very picky, opinionated and ….difficult! I chose 15 gowns of the same material, length and color from teh same desinger. They can choose to wear any that they want, my only request was to have each girl in a different cut dress (I wanted ALL difffernt or ALL the same). I think they appreciate being able to choose between so many gowns.

I’m also having 4 bridesmaids. I told them which color and fabric I wanted for bridesmaid dresses (we went with J. Crew), and had them choose their own dress style. In the end 2 girls picked one dress, and 2 girls picked another. So I’ll have the same sort of look — 2 dresses, and 2 girls wearing each. I think it’s gonna look great… and I’m so happy that they each got to pick a dress that they like!

OP, have you actually seen the watermelon pink color in the store? You’re talking about DB, right?
My BFF, I am her Maid/Matron of Honor, had picked watermelon as her color. It looks gorgeous online, I know! Then we went to the store and it looks horrible. It is waaaay too bright for us and we immediately switched colors.
Moral: make sure you look at all the colors IN the store, not just online before you make your final decision! GL!
By The Way, I think having two of them in one dress and two in another is a fine idea. You might even consider letting them all pick out their own dress because when the bridesmaids are happy and comfortable, the pictures will reflect that. If you’re already okay with two dresses, four dresses isn’t that much more of a stretch. If they are wearing the same color, then different dresses would look great.
I also second the pp’s idea of having them all in different shades of pink. That sounds beautiful! 🙂

Thanks for the advice everyone! I just need to make a decision now! The watermelon color i’m talking about is at davids bridal. I noticed the color looks different depending on the dress and material. I’m looking at more of the satin styles. I”m having a june garden wedding and thought that pink dresses would look cute!

I don’t think so – I have 6 BMs and they’re picking any cocktail length dress in a certain fabric from one designer – GO FOR IT!

@lover33– The satin in watermelon is gorgeous and is absolutely perfect for a June wedding!! I had originally planned on getting watermelon dresses from DB but I ended up finding hot pink ones elsewhere that I fell in love with. I think that having 2 sets of BM’s with different dresses/same color would look adorable! It’s nice of you to think of their feelings too, since they are the ones who have to wear the dress! 🙂
