I really like those!  My favorite is 1 and 3.  I like 2 as well, but the material is not as flowy for a wedding dress; it’s a “squishy” material.  (My bridesmaids are wearing Dessy, and they all got to choose they’re own style and fabric, so I got to see all of the fabrics.)  I would definitely wear the chiffon or the satin for a wedding dress.  The peau de soie is a bit harder, not as flowy.

Ooh I really like the second picture!!! I think that would be a great way to save money vs the marked up wedding dress prices.

I love the third one.  I say go for it!  It’s a great way to spend money and whats a wedding dress but a dress you wear to your wedding?

I love the first one. The sleeve detail is just enough to make it special but still simple.

@mnp:  Hi – I realise this post is old but did you end up doing this? I’m really interested in the possibility of getting a Dessy bridesmaid dress made in white/ivory as my wedding dress but don’t know where to start! Any experience welcome xx

@Stormchild:  Hi, I am having a destination wedding abroad which I am wearing a Maggie for but I am also having a simple legal ceramony in my home country first and just last week bought a Dessy bridesmaid dress for it.

I chose the 8127, the dress is beautiful but I hate the model photo… so ignore that.

I went to my local bridal boutique and looked on the hangers, there was literally a hundred dresses but the only ones I was picking out were the Dessy ones and that was before looking at the labels having never even heard of Dessy before. You can feel how expensive they are and they are such a great price. When I tried mine on I was instantly happy that if anything were to happen to my wedding dress that I would be perfectly happy to wear this one instead and so they would easily pass as a bridal dresses… and also since I have tried on a lot of dresses I know for sure that these are in the same league as them but obviously more simple.

The only downside is that bridal stores generally only stock colourful dresses so you would have to be able to picture your dress in a bridal colour and try on dresses even if you hate the colour of the sample.  Good luck though ๐Ÿ™‚

@tails:  Tried to reply before but I don’t think it went through! Thanks so much for this. What a beautiful dress! Do you mind me asking which store you went to? Did they mind that you were getting a bridesmaid’s dress instead…? Not that they should but, y’know…

@Stormchild:

@mnp:

Thankyou both so much with regards to my dress ๐Ÿ™‚

I am glad that you found a sample dress at an amazing price mnp, my destination wedding dress is also a sample… a gorgeous Maggie Sottero for ony £400 worth about £1000 and only tried on once before me as its a halterneck which is the least popular style but I just love halternecks…. so excited that I have 2 amazing dresses now.

I bought it from Angelbrides in Leeds but if you go on the Dessy site there is a link that provides you with all their retailers…. I imagine quite a few will stock them.

Its the same store where I bought my wedding dress for my destination wedding so they were just probably happy that I was spending more money there lol… but ye I doubt any bridal shop would mind as they are just happy for the business….

I think a lot of people will find it quite understandable really, white/ivory brideasmaid dresses make for very simple and elegant bridal dresses and at a price that far more reasonable. They are very well made and I felt amazing wearing the dress…. the quality felt no less than any of the bridal dresses I tried on.

Their sizing comes up big so I would definetly try on at a bridal store even if you are planning on buying online.

@Stormchild: I had Dessy Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and loved them so much I wanted one. If i had been having a destination wedding I’d have chosen one of their dresses as a bridal dress.
