I chose my dresses and color(s) awhile back – but am having the hardest time choosing a final color for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. All the girls will wear Dessy Alfred Sung duipioni dresses, in a style of their choice.
I am between Quarry (neutral, always have wanted gray or black, gray is less harsh for May wedding) and Pearl Pink (soft, romantic, and pink which I love but still keeping it somewhat neutral with this particular pink).
Below are two real wedding photos with either dress. My question is: If it is just too hard to choose, since I have a maid of honor and a matron of honor, would it look ridiculous to have them in one color and the other 10 in the other color? My first thought was having the maids in pearl pink and the other Bridesmaid or Best Man in quarry. I am letting the girls also wear any nude pumps of their choosing.
Thoughts? Suggestions?? Help!!!

jennacaridi: Not ridic. I think it would look lovely with the Mohs in the pink and the bms in the grey. I’m having my bms wear pink and moh wear a peachy colour, all wearing nude heels as well.

winterwoodlandbride15: Thank you! Your combo sounds pretty, I am worried more with my combo because unlike yours, it’s not the same color family per se…at least yours are all pinks!

jennacaridi: That is true, but pink and grey look really good together. I think you’ll be fine.

jennacaridi: what exactly are your wedding colors? What color are the flowers going to be?

I think having the MOHs in pink with the other BMs in grey will look nice. Especially since you are having them all wear nude pumps. You may want to have them all do somewhat of the same hair style as well to tie them all together (hair up, hair down, curled, etc.)

IzzyBear: I think the girls in gray will have blush flowers (similar to the pink in the maids pink dresses, maybe even a shade darker) and the pink dresses of honor will carry white to be similar to mine.

With such a big wedding party I think combo is perfect! Helps them stand out a bit more 🙂

jennacaridi: gotcha. in that case I think having the 2 in pink and the rest in grey will look fine. however, I would ask the 2 MOH’s their opinion on the pink color. They might not like it and prefer the grey. I know that pink color would look awful with my skintone and I wouldn’t want to wear it…even though I think it’s very pretty

I personally have never liked the concept of having the Maid/Matron of Honor or MsOH wear a different color from the bridesmaids. Nearly every photograph I have seen of this seems to draw too much attention to the Maid/Matron of Honor, which takes attention away from the bride. It literally becomes THE accent color in the wedding photo, making the photo — to me anyway — appear unbalanced.
For what it’s worth, I generally like pink much more than than I like gray, BUT I LOVE the quarry color of that dress SO much more than the pale pink. I think the quarry is SO elegant! I would have them all in that shade.
One crazy idea may be to have shawls made in the the pale pink for all of the girls, and you could take a few photos with the maids wearing their shawls. 🙂

jennacaridi: I think it would look fine. I think it’s actually becoming the norm to do so.

jennacaridi: Not weird! I’m having my Maid/Matron of Honor wear a different color dress than the rest of my BMs – although in a differetn color scheme than you, same idea. My Maid/Matron of Honor will be in plum and the BMs in victorian lilac. I’ve incorporated both of these colors into the wedding in various ways and have really used an entire palette of purples. I think for yours the MOHs should be in the pink and the BMs in the grey. Such a pretty color scheme!
