I’m running into a small dress issue, because my Maid/Matron of Honor and one of my bridesmaids are currently pregnant. One is due at the end of this month, and the other due in May, so they won’t be pregnant at the wedding — but how do they know what size to order?
I’m most concerned about my Maid/Matron of Honor, because she will have had the baby right around 4 months before the wedding, which is when you are supposed to order dresses, and I don’t want her to get stuck with something that doesn’t fit.
I just want to make sure the dresses fit comfortable for both of them. Do they just order to the size they are post-baby, and then get alterations closer to the wedding?
I havent even picked out the dresses yet, just wondering if anyone has run into the same issue?

Two months before should be OK, though they may have to pay a rush fee – one of my BMs is due in a week and a half, and my wedding is in 16 weeks. So long as you choose a style that isn’t terrible when loose, they should be fine. Choose something that at least has straps (preferably more than spaghetti straps), and go with an empire waist (right below the bust.)
Something that laces instead of zipping or buttoning would be perfect – there’s essentially no alterations other than a hem needed on those – but it may be hard to find in a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress.
Also, my maids requested a wrap to cover stretch marks on their arms.

It would definitely be better to have them order dresses too large than too small. A dress that’s too big can easily be taken in, but a dress that’s too small won’t have enough fabric to be let out.

Thanks! I’m going through this same thing. I am going to ask them their opinion on the whole matter, but we already picked out the dresses a few days before we asked the pregnant ones (long story…) Anyway, I hope it all works out!
