Gift your sister some money so she can afford the matching dress. The way I see it, you’re the one who wants that dress so you should pay the difference between that and what she can afford.

If it were my sister and she couldn’t afford it, I would buy her the dress!

hmmm i don’t think it’s a good idea to switch your sister to become a bridesmaid when you had already given her the title of Maid/Matron of Honor. She would definitely be hurt by it even if she doesn’t show it. Think about it, if someone did that to you, you wouldn’t like it. But if it really bothers you that the dresses wouldn’t match the titles and etc then do what you like because ultimately it is your wedding. For me, it’s not a big deal and i wouldn’t care if my MOH’s dress is different.

Find out what your sister was willing to spend and what was in her budget and make up the difference.
