So, my pregnant Bridesmaid or Best Man scheduled a C-Section for 10 days before our wedding. I’m doubting she’ll be able to participate, but she REALLY wants to. She has had a C-Section before and feels like she’ll be recovered in time. Uh, okayyy… I appreciate your enthusiasm, girl! I’m not planning to replace her either way because she is irreplaceable in my heart. 😉
I’m having the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses custom-made by this really cute and funky local designer in Nebraska. Seemed like an easy way to tie the dresses together, keep my modern vintage theme (I want crisp dresses that recall both the Mad Men era and the 20s), and still cater to all of the BM’s nutso concerns about their bodies… Not that I don’t have my own, but I think they’re all just gorgeous the way they are!
Anyway, the designer wants a $50 deposit on each dress for materials soon that I’ll pay for (this way I don’t need to spring this on the girls), and I’m trying to decide: Should I still have her make the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress for our mother-to-be, considering she might not even be standing up with us? Is there a way to make a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress more maternity friendly?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated. 🙂

I think she’ll be there. 10 days is quite awhile believe it or not. I would have the dress made. Since this isn’t her first child either, she already knows how her body will react afterwards, as long as everything goes ok. The body that’s a whole different issue. Some ladies spring right back and some don’t so I would just have something that isn’t too form fitting for her made.

I had one bridesmaid who had a newborn baby at the time of my wedding, and one bridesmaid who was fairly pregnant, and they liked these dresses–the fitted up top/looser over the belly combo is a great one for this situation! Good luck–I hope your irreplaceable girl gets to be by your side on the big day!

I would go with an empire waist so she doesn’t have to worry about it being tight on her stomach, and be sure to allow for plenty of room in the chest!

I would pay the depsoit on it for sure. Go with empire waist and something with straps to help hold her boobs in.

Empire Waist would be most comfy and flattering I am sure!
You are so sweet to be so considerate of your friend!!! 🙂
I would get the dress either way!
