My Maid/Matron of Honor and I have been researching dresses in the color scheme I want, that aren’t a ton of money. I don’t want to make my girls spend a lot, so when she found this J. Crew dress on sale for $49.99 and then with an extra 30% off, I figured we could definitely use it. Originally we were looking at Alfred Angelo dresses and she was going to wear robin’s egg blue and the other girls were going to wear cobalt. Well, since we no longer want to go with AA dresses, I was still trying to find a color pretty close to their cobalt and I really like J. Crew’s matisse blue. However, she does not, and the matisse blue is on sale but for $150 (+30% off). I told her before she could wear a different shade of blue, but the blue that’s on sale for $49.99 I’m not sure will go ok with the matisse blue if the other girls get that color. It’s not that she’s being picky about the color or anything, I don’t care that she wants a different shade, and I know if I did care and I wanted them all in one color, that she’d have no problem with that. I just want opinions on whether or not the two colors work together. The first one is the mosaic blue (the one she likes), and the second is the matisse blue (what the rest of the girls would wear).

@HeatherMM: Can everyone wear the first dress? It’s such a steal! Maybe she can get another accessory like a bigger bouquet or different colored shoes or a nice belt to make herself stand out from the other girls.

I concur with RayRayFurious- it seems like a lot of work just to make one dress stand out from the others. She can assert her Maid/Matron of Honor status with different hair or flowers, or a sash- lots of ways.
That being said, to answer your original question, I think the two blues will go fine together. They’re very pretty.

I think they work.
By The Way, my bridesmaids are wearing Matisse Blue dresses from J. Crew. 🙂

Well, I really like the first blue, I just really prefer the darker blue as the main color. I guess I’m just not sure whether or not the aqua blue will go witht the rest of decor very well. We’re doing a carnival theme and I was going to do shades of blue with yellow and red accents. I’d feel bad if I go ahead and tell her she can get that dress and then I end up not liking it with the rest of the colors, because it’s on sale and it can’t be returned.

I voted that, yes, it will work. BUT, PPs are right, Maid/Matron of Honor can wear something different (accessory or something) to make her stand appart from the other BMs. That said, I really like the darker blue one.

I think they’d look beautiful together, but cobalt always tends to pop a bit more.
